Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Roberts.
Bre, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I went to Arizona State University for my undergrad, where I received my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Business. I graduated with honors as my family pushed me to be the best version of myself from a very young age.
I then got an internship of a lifetime working for EXOS but the kicker was, I had to move halfway around the country to follow my passion. I decided to follow my heart and moved to Raleigh, NC to work for EXOS. I was a Performance Specialist, where I trained all levels of collegiate and professional athletes. I worked on their mobility, strength and overall performance. I witnessed firsthand the amount of effort and focus one needed to have to play at the professional level and it inspired me to level up my own life in every area. This is when I started training my body harder, eating even healthier, reading more and more books, and had a passion for becoming better every day.
After my internship was over, I realized I had given EXOS my all, but it really wasn’t my passion. As a female trainer, it’s sometimes hard for clients to take you seriously and to stay focused on the workout at hand. I realized that was going to be an uphill battle for my entire career, so I decided to move back to Arizona to figure out my next career move.
I came back home a bit confused about what new endeavor I wanted to embark on. As I’m sure, a lot of entrepreneurs and people, in general, get confused or stumped on life or their career path. I’m someone who will never settle for a mediocre life. I knew I wanted to be great and make a big impact on not only my life but everyone who I know. Coming from a very strict and self-made family, my family put a lot of pressure on me to get a solid and consistent career. Respecting their wishes, I decided to jump into the corporate.
I knew IT was booming at the time, so I got a job with a company called Insight Global here in Arizona. I spent a year recruiting some of the most intelligent IT employees from around the country. This role pushed my boundaries and tested me in ways that I never would have expected. I was the fastest employee to get promoted in just under four months but was told that I had to slow down and wait to follow company protocol on “how fast” employees are supposed to get promoted and or raises. Obviously, no one wants to be told to slow down or you’re doing too good of a job as it goes against the way my brain is hardwired. It’s like telling Michael Jordan to stop scoring points in the 4th quarter with two minutes left on the buzzer.
I realized that being in corporate was not in my blood and I spent enough time giving it my all for my family to realize that I can really be successful at whatever I’d like to do in life. I wasn’t happy in corporate and after a year, I was back at square one. “Ok Bre, now what?”
I took a major step back in life to just be and spent more time thinking, reading and researching. I needed to figure out what I was passionate about and be able to make the type of career and money I’d like to make to live my ideal life. After a few weeks of deep soul searching, I realized that real estate was and is a huge passion of mine. I still remember the first episode of the HGTV show called Flip or Flop. I instantly fell in love with buying a piece of real estate that would be so ugly or damaged and turning it into something so beautiful. Although I’m great at saving money, I realized to flip houses the right way, I lacked the sufficient resources needed along with industry knowledge.
I decided that I was going to reverse engineer how to get into the investment side of real estate. It led me to want to get my real estate license and learn the Arizona real estate market like the back of my hand. I got my license extremely quick and I was off to the races. Researching day and night on how to build not only my clientele and my business. I ended up getting my first client within 30 days and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. It was my first time closing a property, so it was like I was back in grade school with training wheels on my brand-new bike but trying to keep my cool saying, “I got this.” It took me a few months to learn the ins and outs to give my clients a flawless experience.
With real estate, tons of things can go wrong, and I wanted to be known in Arizona for going the extra mile and always leave my clients with the best experience they’ve ever had. Buying a house is intimate, it’s scary, it’s exciting, and most importantly, it’s unique to each buyer. I had to learn more about people and reading what they wanted, even if they didn’t tell me. That then led to word of mouth and in a matter of months, my business was doing extremely well just from referrals of past clients.
Saying that building my real estate business has been easy would be the joke of the year. It has been an ongoing journey with ups and downs just like any entrepreneur. One day, you’re selling a dream house within 24 hours and then next, you feel like a firefighter putting out the biggest fire you could imagine. It just comes with the territory and it has allowed me to toughen up over the years and truly step into my full power.
Currently, I’m a realtor at EXP Realty, and I am loving my job. I have been able to build my entire list of clients through word of mouth and referrals. 2020 I am heavily focusing on building out my personal brand and hiring a team so that we can offer even more positive experiences for more clients throughout Arizona.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t talk about this much as I made a promise to myself that I would never let it define me. When I was 15 years old, my entire life changed in the split of a second. That was the age when my mom passed away. Being so close to someone that is taken away from you so quickly, changes who you are. It took me many years to break past that and realize that I wasn’t a victim nor did I want to act like one. I let it be the passion that stays with me throughout my journey. When a parent passes away at a young age, it forces you to grow up and realize that the world isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. I am very grateful to be alive and have such an amazing family to support me throughout my journey. I think that this obstacle has become my greatest asset as it has allowed me to grow up appreciating the little things in life and do what I’m truly passionate about, which is fitness and being in the real estate industry.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I’m a realtor for EXP Realty. I specialize in all facets of the real estate industry, representing buyers and sellers throughout Arizona. My niche is luxury homes between $750,000 – $3,000,000.
I’m most proud of being a successful female in a male dominant industry, where a lot of odds are against me. I am most proud that when younger females see me living my best life, they too will feel that they can do anything and be anything they want to in life.
What sets me apart? I’m the realtor that’s going to go above and beyond to ensure that my client’s experience, whether it be buying or selling, is streamlined and flawless. My biggest mission is for my clients to have a phenomenal experience working with me while getting the best deal possible. No matter their wants or needs, I’ll be honest every step of the way and do everything in my power to make that happen.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not someone who really believes in luck. I believe that everything in life happens for a reason and that if you have the right energy and karma, the world will align what you want in life. Being aligned with energy and being a good person is how I operate, not luck.
