Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Collins.
Hi Sean, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I worked at Walgreens for 15 years in management and spent most of my time in the pharmacy. This is where I witnessed copious amounts of narcotics being dispensed to our customer base. Doctors write maintenance level prescriptions for acute injuries. This made me sick as a person to see.
When the farm act was passed, I had customers coming in looking to CBD as an alternative to the pain medications they were taking. We didn’t sell it, but I wanted to help my customers out because of the guilt I felt with the opioid pandemic. I started doing research, tried CBD myself, and saw the difference it made in my life with my anxiety.
I created CBD Beauty and Bath as a way to help my customers who were looking for a natural alternative to prescription medications. I wanted them to have a trusted, knowledgeable source, so I became that source for them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road.
It took me several years to perfect my formulas, design my products, and build my website. The next hurdle was banking. I was lucky enough to be entered into a test program with Square. No one wanted to insure me either, but diligence has allowed me to find a company that allows CBD.
Fees are higher, and CBD is not allowed to advertise on Facebook or Google. All of my marketing efforts have come mostly word of mouth from people who have tried my products at either farmer’s markets that I attend or merchant events.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have always had an artistic bone in my body.
The marketing of my company, and creating pictures and ads have allowed me to show my creative side. Also, creating handmade natural bath and body products without the use of manufactured chemicals has also allowed me to express my creative side.
I also love helping people feel and look better. My company allows me to do both with the power of CBD!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Mesa is a very interesting place to live.
Having moved from Colorado about two years ago, I was not used to the more conservative style of thinking. I do like the openness of the people here. Many different thoughts and people are not afraid to express themselves.
My least favorite part is the closed-minded people who think that I am selling marijuana. It is a challenge to try to get people to understand the difference between hemp and marijuana, but I am open to the task!
