Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabree Garcia.
Hi Sabree, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
How I got started, I know 2019 I wanted a challenge with art, I wanted to go bigger and I started researching murals and fell in love instantly. I saw an opportunity and reached out to participate in Phoenix mural project, emailed me back and set me up with an amazing mentor (bacpac) to assist. Very grateful for her and the opportunity that changed my life, I would assist bacpac in 117° weather day and night & before night college classes, any free time I dedicated it to murals. I knew it was my purpose, from there I branched out to assist other amazing local artist who I looked up. After a year of assisting, I’ve now have done over 20 murals, traveled as far as Louisiana, and still painting till this day. I am very blessed for companies and businesses who give the opportunities and platforms to create.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If we didn’t have bad days we wouldn’t believe in the good days. I would say the hardest challenge was believing in myself and seeing my potential in the beginning, it takes a while to build but I’ve come a long way and I’m proud of myself. I also had some vehicle problems when I first started, I still remember fitting a 10ft ladder in my hatchback Nissan & I would say being a mother has its own challenges in itself my son has definitely slept on some restaurants booths as I painted
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a muralist. I paint on large surfaces. Some walls as high as 46 ft, I design and paint everything from baby nurseries to pool backdrops, restaurants, and more. I specialize in modern bold art; I love to make a statement. I’m known for my mural art around Phoenix, supporting the art community by painting, I inspire people to create, I keep a good attitude, and truly love what I do.
I’m most proud of being selected to paint for a well-known client frys food store I painted both Parking garages at the very first downtown location.
What sets me apart from others, I feel like I never want to see art as a competition I see it as artist having a gift to share with the world. We all have our unique styles and at the end of the day, we just want to do what we love to do, making money is a bonus. I also know what’s it’s like to hustle and if you want something bad enough you can get it
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
