Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Gladney.
Hi Megan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I knew I wanted to start an Etsy shop when our daughter started preschool. I had no clue what type of business I would start. I am so glad I took the leap and learned to pivot during the pandemic. I learned to broaden my sales nationwide through wholesale on the Hello Abound and Faire platforms. I have met so many amazing boutique owners across the Country.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My health has been a bit of a struggle, but I have kept pushing through. Having orders to make keeps me motivated and in a great mood. I started my business when I was first diagnosed with Endometriosis and had my second Maker’s market shortly after surgery.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make unique children’s gifts and garlands. I love making personalized gifts since children all have names that cannot be found on a Keychain. I am most proud of setting an example of a hard-working Stay at Home Mother for our five year old daughter, Gemma. She has learned a lot about running a small business! My work ethic sets me apart from others. After 15 years in Sales, I have always found a new avenue to sell a product.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I have had to learn on my 18-month journey is: Have Fun! Holiday and wholesale orders lasted well into February this year and the days were long.
