Rising Stars: Meet Kristina Swift

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Swift.

Hi Kristina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have spent all of my 24-year career as a VP – Chief Sales Officer in the Direct Selling space providing coaching, training, tools, and support for entrepreneurs. In 2019, I found myself fatigued by the demands of the corporate world and decided to join the ranks of women building their own businesses on their terms and their time. One of my strengths has always been recruiting – identifying talent and developing high-performance teams.

I decided to lean into that and started my own Executive Recruiting agency, matching great companies with top talent – and Serendipity Executive Search was born. To date, we have placed over 50 talented candidates who all took a step up in their career and title as well as compensation (my favorite part). I love the definition of Serendipity – “the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way ”

At the same time, I decided to open a Mobile Dog Grooming Business because I had experienced some disappointing results with my own dogs. My son’s best friend Christian Toraya who graduated from Grand Canyon University was looking for an opportunity he could count on to stay in Arizona and so Bark and Lather Mobile Grooming came to life with a vision from me and a dream for a better life from Christian.

I was able to continue my mission to help people in their careers in another way. He runs the day-to-day of our thriving operation and we have expanded from 1 to 2 to 3 In Scottsdale and are adding a 4th this summer to serve the East Valley.

Finally, my other passion is beauty and wellness. I just launched Serendipity-Smiles Laser Teeth Whitening – mostly because of the pure joy people get out of a session with me. I believe everyone deserves the brightest whitest smile regardless of the teeth they were born with. Your smile is such a big part of your first impression and when you feel good about your smile you feel more confident.

So, three businesses, and I love them all. Each one of them has a strong purpose of service. We treat our Bark and Lather pups like family and provide a pampering experience for them with top talent groomers that – YES, I recruited. At Serendipity Smiles we bring joy and confidence in a relaxing environment – in fact most people fall asleep and then in under an hour have a ridiculously white smile.

At Serendipity Executive Search we partner with incredible companies and help people take the next step in their careers which is beyond rewarding. For me, being an entrepreneur has translated into time and financial freedom, a greater purpose, balance, the ability to truly give back, and most importantly health and happiness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although I have worked for some incredible companies like Avon and Isagenix – it only takes one bad experience to change everything.  Staying in a corporation would have been a struggle – I was tired of the toxicity and disrespect that sadly I experienced as a woman in Corporate America.

So, my motivation was really strong to never go back.

My superpower is “hustler” so I knew that for me to be free I was going to have to tap into that strength and work my businesses like my life and freedom depended on it – and I did and I still do.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Your brand is your image and it is really important that you get it right to attract your target consumer.

I have a sales and marketing background so I was very clear on the story I wanted to tell in each of my brands from the color palette to the logo and the taglines.

How do you define success?
I have been so fortunate over the years to have people who have helped me – nurtured my strengths and have cared enough to have the hard conversations with me to make me better and help me evolve.

At this point in my life, I have a strong desire to do that for others. Success for me is the successful people around me that I have brought along on my journey, whose lives are just a little bit better because of our relationship.

I have personally know. Christina and I Can she is absolutely one the sweetest and most intelligent woman I know. She cares about you. She was not just someone you ‘worked for’, she worked with you to teach your potential. I’m proud to have learned from her many of the things I know.
