Rising Stars: Meet Darian Townsend of Phoenix
Today we’d like to introduce you to Darian Townsend.
Hi Darian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Phoenix Swim Club (PSC) was first established in 1989 and became a nationally prominent program. Since its inception, this program has contributed to the training and development of swimmers who have accumulated 14 Olympic medals. The focus is on personal development within the framework of a strong team orientation. All levels of the developmental process are considered to be equally important, regardless of age or ability.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
During the COVID-19 era it has not been easy for many small businesses. PSC has not been immune to these hard times but is proud to boast that our membership is doing well and have actually increased in the time since we resumed regular practices.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As as coach I am focused on making our members better as athletes and people. We use the the vehicle of competitive swim to teach a variety of life lessons to our members with the ultimate goal of them using the PSC traditions in their lives.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
There are many ways to reach a goal. Everyone’s path is different.
