Today we’d like to introduce you to Wyatt Bell.
Wyatt, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Wyatt Bell. I was born and raised here in Arizona and currently live in downtown PHX! From an early age, I remember having trouble following the “normal” path and found myself wandering in my thoughts more often than not. I really took a liking to creative thinking and began to express my thoughts as drawings at a young age.
Over the years as I grew up I was always drawing something or wanting to create something new. By the time I graduated High school I was getting into actually using paints and canvases to create my visions. Slowly but surely I developed a style and people took note. I started selling small works of art to close friends and eventually, that blossomed into now having a full on clientele.
There is nothing like waking up in the morning and getting to use your creative ability to its full potential, it never gets old. That being said, Making a living this way was not the easiest task to get comfortable with but the reward and feeling you get when you create a unique piece of art for someone or something and it captures the essence of what they desire or wanted exactly, is just such a fulfilling experience and I strive to continue doing just that as long as my hands can lift brushes.
On the other hand, when I create paintings at my own will my art captures the visions and concepts I have acquired from life experiences, dream-states, and journeys I’ve been on both spiritually and physically. This is where the pedal meets the metal. “The creative act is a letting down of the net of human imagination into the ocean of chaos on which we are suspended, and the attempt to bring out of it ideas. -Terrance McKenna”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning, it was a struggle just like starting any new direction in life is. Before I had steady work, I was working odd jobs and then was working at AT&T selling cell phones literally WASTING my days away it felt like. While working there I ended up getting one of my first big commission jobs and when that check hit and I realized I could really do something with it, I immediately quit to pursue being an artist!
As I grew and became the person I am now I had MANY life-changing events occur, some good some bad. Although some events weren’t totally good I wouldn’t trade them for anything because I learned and gained so much knowledge from them. The main thing I took away from all my life experience good and bad was, life is all about being in the right place at the right time and knowing that your higher consciousness is there guiding you on your path whether you know it or not. You just have to be willing to listen.
I will continue to follow this “guide” for as long as it leads me and will be creating works of art all along the way!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am WIJ Designs. I create Visionary, Psychedelic, Abstract, and Street type works of art. I mainly paint on canvas, but I like to think anything can be turned into a canvas if you look at it the right way. I love making people stop and stare in wonder… I feel like when people grow up and get regular jobs (I call it working for the machine) they lose track of what truly makes them happy. I like to bring a little happiness and wonder back to peoples life when they look at my art!
This life we are living in is absolutely full of amazing experiences, places and vibrations I just can’t imagine how so many people just let that pass by without taking notice! The fact that me and you are even alive at this very moment is such an inconceivably lucky feat against the odds and we need to take that into consideration more because we’re only here temporarily.
Do not hold back, Charge everyday HEAD ON! My paintings express the feelings and vibrations I have encountered from visions, dream-states, and journeys i’ve been on in this dimension spiritually and physically. Ultimately what I specialize in is creating custom unique art for ANY person, place, or thing!
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always into something different, things like Dirt bikes, wakeboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX, Street bikes, and paragliding were my main activities! Although my main interest was and still is Aviation.
My dad got me into aviation as young as I can remember and would take me flying all the time. I spent a lot of time by myself lost in my own world, and being in school with a mindset like that was quite difficult. I never understood what school was actually for, it seemed as if I just didn’t quite fit into that environment.
Creating my own reality was where I excelled. Lots of time spent staring out of school windows imagining myself flying through the clouds.
