Meet Vickie Aigner of Alive, Fit & Free in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vickie Aigner.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a Lifestyle Design Consultant for communities, organizations and individuals through my company, Alive, Fit & Free. I take a simple and balanced approach while possessing powerful steps that I’ve developed to focus all aspects of goal achievement, including fitness, nutrition, mindset and defining life purpose for success.

My journey into wellness began as I lived off the land on a rural farm in Northern Idaho and learned how to grow, raise and process my own foods and natural supplements.

Then, at the age of 25 I faced some serious health issues which led me to recognize the importance of fitness, nutrition and natural supplements for living a healthy lifestyle. In 2001, the sudden death of my husband showed me how our emotional and mental health and our belief systems play into our overall wellness.

All of my life experiences led me to where I am today. After my husband passed away, I needed to take a hard look at my life and where I wanted it to go, what my beliefs and passions were, what my expertise was, and how I wanted to remake my life.

What began as wellness coaching has flowed into something bigger; helping others define who they are and bringing that vision to life while incorporating lifestyle choices that enhance health and wellness for each individual and group is my passion.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not necessarily been smooth. I am a firm believer that life brings challenges and circumstances to help us grow and become stronger.

I had cancer at the age of 25 and chose natural methods to get well. This filled me with a burning passion to help others pursue a true road to healing. I moved to Oregon and began studying and pursuing a career in natural health and sharing that with others.

In 2001, my husband and I, along with our 6 children moved to Mississippi and began building a house. I was the contractor and my husband, Ken, and our oldest son, then 16, and I were the builders. We were about halfway through the construction when Ken had a heart attack and passed away. I remember when my son, Colby, and I went back over to the house a few days after Ken passed and we both looked at each other, not knowing if we would be able to finish. But we did.

And that was just the start of a new chapter to my journey. We all needed healing as we walked through our lives learning to deal with the hurt and pain of death. How was I going to support my 6 children ranging in age from 3-18? I had to come to terms with life as it now stood, discovering who I was, what my beliefs were, and search deep inside to determine what my passion and dreams were for the future. I had to pick up the pieces and recreate my life.

I took my life experiences, my education and my passion for helping others create the life of their design and dreams, and Alive, Fit & Free became a solid system for transformation with organizations, communities, corporates, and individuals locally and globally.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alive, Fit & Free – what should we know?
I am an expert Lifestyle & Wellness Design Consultant with over 17 years of experience in the industry. I developed a specialized system based on my work with individuals and groups from Fiji to Native American groups, corporates and organizations all across the United States, and apply my steps to your goals.

I refer to it as a system for creating a new “culture” for transformation and success. I emphasize “creating deep changes, for individuals and corporations, based on my work with groups in both the board room, and communities in need of growth.

My approach to lifestyle and wellness is simple, balanced and sustainable for the individual, with a holistic approach that includes defining one’s purpose and passion, physical fitness, nutrition, and mental wellbeing.

My system includes a ‘deep dive’ where I get to learn the needs of my client in an initial consultation, after which I design a tailored lifestyle design and wellness program specific to the needs of the client, resulting in effective Lifestyle Wellness Programs that create sustainable and healthy transformation among program participants. I design and facilitate goal oriented and customized strategies unique to each community and their individual members’ needs and success, locally and globally.

I have worked with community organizations, corporates, and individuals, such as The Hualapai Tribe, Grand Canyon Resort Corporation, The Mahoney Group, and The City of Hayden. With each client, my goal is to identify the strengths of each community, encourage, and educate the members therein with lifestyle changes that enhance not only the individuals but the group as a whole. I have lived in multicultural communities throughout the world which has exposed me to various lifestyle paths, each unique in its way. I bring this experience, along with my technical expertise in wellness combined with my deep understanding of how to successfully design sustainable lifestyle changes, to provide a balanced program for all my clients.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I believe each person we come in contact with throughout our lives has helped to shape and mold us in one way or another.

The support and encouragement of my mother and children have helped me move forward. My dear friends that offer support and help me to gain clarity are invaluable to me. My team members, Christine Cintron, Tracy Lowe and Randy Shimizu have filled in the missing pieces as we have worked together like a well-oiled machine. My daughter, Sophie, poses tough questions for my growth and direction and is my editor without whom I would spin my wheels. Dr. Jack Barnathan who has seen my potential and patiently coaxed it out of me. My mentors and teachers who guide and edit and inspire me to move past my fears are a fantastic support system. The Hualapai Tribe welcomed me to serve as their wellness coach for over nine years and taught me the value of community, transparency, relationship, and loyalty in Community Transformation.
