Meet Vetta Murdock of Rare Skincare & Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vetta Murdock.

Hi Vetta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up not knowing anything about skincare.

I suffered from acne from the age of 10 until I was 20. I was teased at school for my acne. I reached out to my family about how to take care of my skin and they didn’t know. I tried different things from steaming my face, using rubbing alcohol, and using exfoliating scrubs that were not meant for the face. I realized the more I tried the more my acne and skin seemed to worsen.

I saw a dermatologist who put me on topical creams and pills. It made my skin severely sensitive. My mom did the best she could to help by getting me different skin treatments but never really knew what to do. I never knew there was a profession that targets specific concerns until I saw a school referring to skincare.

I went to aesthetic school not knowing I was going to be able to heal my acne. I found out exactly what was going on with my skin and I was able to reverse my acne and the damage that I did to my skin. I knew then that I had found my true calling.

I focus on corrective skin and educating my clients on what is best for their skin. I want others to feel confident in their skin just like I am now. I take pride in reversing my client’s skin-care concerns and helping them feel happy and healthy in their own skin.

I dedicate myself to advanced training, and classes and I am constantly on the hunt for new ways to help my clients be the best they can be. Skincare means the world to me and I want to give that love to everyone I meet.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
After I got my Aesthetic License I did not practice right away.

My job had offered me a new position where I would be traveling. It was hard finding out what your passion is and then having to do something just to pay the bills. It was hard for me to have to leave skincare behind but I had to do what was best for my family.

I worked at that job for two years and honestly It was like torture. Every day, I had to force myself to get out of bed to do a job I absolutely hated while knowing skincare was my passion. I fell into a depression and I didn’t know how I was going to get out of it. That is when I met my business partner Adrienne.

We both shared the same love for the beauty industry and wanted to own a day spa. I saved up as much money as I could and quit the job I hated so much. Adrienne and I started Rare Skincare & Aesthetics. She really helped me get through my depression and fear of quitting my job.

She gave me the drive and passion to live out what I really believed I was here to do.
