Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Scheviak.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve always been intrigued by looking at things in a different way. It was only natural for me to transition this into photography because I feel it is the best way to create and capture emotions for really anything. I’ve been traveling the world since graduating from college and photography has really been the main constant in my life.
Please tell us about your art.
No matter what I do, I’m questioning whether or not I am trying to fit a mold or trying to be seen as different. Whether this is through portraits or landscape photos, I want to share work that reflects a lesser-seen side of someone or of the earth. When people look at my work, I hope it inspires them to wake up early, stay up late, and take the path less traveled so they can feel the level of discovery that I feel inside them.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
To me, success is not giving in to what society thinks a “good” photo is. I really think this is essential to success as an artist. This may not give you the most followers or traffic, but I swear it is the most fulfilling feeling to trust yourself in your work and continuing to grow in that belief.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My photography Instagram is @shack_shots, and you can follow me in my travels on Instagram as well (@tshack8). I also run a website edgeshop.co where I sell prints of my work and share information on lesser-known locations. My goal is to have a collective of individuals around me that allow me to continue to think differently and gain new perspectives.
