Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Agosta.
Tyler, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I will stick to the music aspect of this question because that’s what brought us here together right? Lol no, I Moved out to Arizona 2 years ago, within a couple months I met Mike through facebook and hit up Dirty Disco 2016. He had been a promoter/DJ at the time so we would always be going to Relentless Beats shows. He even had his own set up that he was generous to let me mess around not really having a clue what I was doing. Now I’ve alway’s been into music, from burning CD’s for my friends in high school, playing it off my phone in the car, or the I will stick to the music aspect of this question because that’s what brought us here together right? Now I’ve alway’s been into music, from burning CD’s for my friends in high school, playing it off my phone in the car, or the party. I even tried the whole rap thing for a little while, my voice was terrible over a microphone though not the worst but, I wasn’t a fan. I had a couple friends who did the whole Do thing at home so I was around it, but never really had the urge to get up and try it which blows my mind now. It just wasn’t on the scale that you see within the scene in Arizona the amount of talent is unbelievable. Mike had been on the scene for a little bit and started introducing me to more and more people, I Started to find myself around a lot of Dj’s giving me the opportunity to learn from different styles, different genres of EDM music, and see such a diverse but similar group of people that music brought together.
It didn’t take long to pick up then It was all about music. I was always hanging out with mike which allowed me to practice, I even bought a little controller to practice on at home but it wasn’t the same as mixing on CDJ’s, I was Constantly practicing any chance I could! Mike having his own equipment and connections lead towards not only being a Dj at the show but throwing the party itself. Partying now became networking, which was what I loved to do anyway (meet new people). I moved in with mike shortly after he moved to Tempe, literally 2 mins around the corner from where I was staying. OurEDM Radio launched a few months later and mixing became pretty much a daily routine. I am happy with the progress I Have made so far being only a year of being part of this scene, A lot more work is in store for sure seeing as I want to continue to pursue a career in the music industry, I am going home to New York for the first time in 2 years and am stocked. I’m going to spend some time back home and try to push OurEDM and network as much as I can.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No. Definitely was not a smooth road but I wouldn’t trade it for anything, the amount I took in through these struggles are far more important to me, even gaining friends that stuck around through the worst. The lifestyle definitely catches up but for the most part, everything is alright and will continue to get better with positive attitudes and hard work.
Please tell us about OurEDM.
OurEDM is honestly just out here to bring the community together, I am a resident DJ for the company and have helped with whatever I’ve been able to, Mikes vision is to give the opportunity to the locals who haven’t had the opportunity to have a crowd of people listening to you play. I’m proud of a lot of things Its to hard to just give one example. I love the idea behind it, its beneficial to everyone, I know me personally it’s not a competition, it’s about the support. Also, you get an hour n half session recorded live (video/audio) that’s streamed on youtube. I’m excited, OurEDM has the potential for sure. We are looking for not hear for the money or fame but for the community and music. the amount of people at an event is irrelevant if the quality of people isn’t there.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
It’s hard to say I really wouldn’t change a thing. The last two years have truly and fully convinced me that everything happens for a reason. Not that I am happy with some of the choices made, but they were made, all you can do is take responsibility and just remain positive, motivated, healthy, and just keep pushing through, the struggles are what make you stronger and wiser.
