Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Daniel.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a career changer. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2004, and having a total thyroidectomy and radiation treatment, I was encouraged to apply for medical school by my doctor. I had gone through several jobs over the years that I didn’t like and weren’t fulfilling. I looked into the process of applying for medical school and I did it! I studied for and took the MCAT, and started on the process of getting into medical school. I got accepted and was excited to get started. I loved medical school. I met my husband my first year of medical school, got married, and had my 2 sons during my 3rd and 4th years of medical school. It was hard but we made it work. My husband was a great support system to me and stayed home with the kids while I was in school. After graduating from medical school, I was in a residency training program that was not supportive of working mothers and was not family friendly. It was a very difficult experience, but I succeeded with the support of my husband and friends. I was determined to succeed no matter who stood in my way or whatever obstacles were thrown in my path.
I’m excited to be making my dream of having a Medspa come true. I care about my patient’s well being, and I want to help them look great and feel great.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My struggles: Being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2004, had a total thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine treatment.
My advice for other women is that it’s okay to be a little selfish and focus on what you want and what you need. Nobody knows what’s best for you better than you do. Follow your intuition and have a career that makes you happy, and don’t let negative people stop you.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Artem Aesthetics & Wellness Center – what should we know?

(Phi is the universal beauty ratio 1:1.6)
The definition of Artem is ” it is art to conceal art; true art conceals the means by which it is achieved.” I strive to provide a natural and youthful look for my patients. The first thing people will notice is how refreshed and beautiful you look, not overdone cosmetic procedures. I studied Beautiphication- a method that uses a caliper to measure facial features to put the universal beauty ratio of 1: 1.6 in each patient’s own facial features. It is a global approach to facial beauty which brings your features into harmony.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My Aunt Gloria Shlaes was my inspiration to be an entrepreneur. Her and my Uncle George Shlaes opened and ran several upscale nightclubs, bars, and restaurants in Chicago. My Aunt ran the business office and I learned a lot while I worked for her as a teen. She was assertive, no-nonsense, and results driven. One of the first things I learned after starting my business is that you need to stand up for yourself and not be afraid to say “No.”
I’ve always wanted to have my own business. Once I started medical school, I realized how much I love medical aesthetics and cosmetic dermatology. I also love meeting new people and getting to know them, which is a huge part of medicine.
