Meet Trailblazer Alex Longo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Longo.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Arizona. I went away for college and a couple of years for work but always knew I wanted to make it back to Phoenix and raise my family. My husband is from here too. We live in Arcadia and have two kids, Anthony (8) and Everette (6). I started redheadinpink a few years ago as something to do on the side. My day job is in medical sales. I have always loved fashion. Nothing makes me happier than someone sending me a picture in an outfit I posted or helping someone with a fashion-related question! I also think I love doing it because a little over five years ago I decided it was time to get sober. I have always struggled with alcohol but it was time to give it up! Now, instead of drinking, I find myself posting on Instagram which is a lot healthier!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have the most amazing support team ever between my family and friends. I think this is so important. You have to have a solid foundation! Another thing my Dad has always said to me is “You never learn anything from talking.” I try to be a great listener.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Being able to have an Instagram on the side is great! I work for Baxter during the day, which I love. But at night, when the kids go to sleep, I find myself putting together my posts, etc.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Of course! My mother and father are both my rocks. They still both work and I have always looked up to that since I was a kid. I also was a collegiate swimmer at Texas A & M (Gig ‘em!) and I know that maintaining that brutal swim schedule and balancing college schoolwork set me up for success. I didn’t realize it until later in life how lucky I was so experiencing it.
