Meet Tanner Allen of Journey Training in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanner Allen.

Tanner, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As long as I can remember, I’ve always loved being active. My mother used to lock my brothers and me outside, even in the summer. She used to make us drink water out of the hose and “play” outside because she didn’t want us to be those children who played video games all day long.

I’m so glad she did this! I believe these forced healthy habits of staying active and creating a passion for exercise and sports.

Sure, I have the typical “I used to be a competitive athlete” story, but that’s not why I started Journey Training or what qualifies me to be a great coach today.

I am a regular guy who struggles just as much as anyone else. We’re all busy with work, family, and other important things in life. But, staying healthy is ALWAYS a priority for me. I love working out and the way it makes me feel. More importantly, I love helping other people achieve their goals! Journey Training’s mission is “Transforming Lives through the Journey of Training”.

This is a holistic approach and I believe that our physical, emotional and spiritual conditions are all intertwined. I help my clients become more fit and achieve amazing physical transformations, but I also help them become better people!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since 2012, Journey Training has been a slow steady mountain climb. As a student at ASU, I knew I wanted to help people in fitness or in therapy of some kind.

I originally wanted to become a physical therapist, but several opportunities led me to start my own training business and build a clientele.

After 5 years of renting space and learning and making mistakes, I was finally able to achieve my lifelong goal of opening my OWN private studio gym! This happened in March of 2017, and it’s been an amazing experience filled with new learning experiences.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Journey Training specializes in group fitness, athletic performance training, powerlifting, and personal training. We have several trainers that work with various clients in these areas.

I am most proud of the amazing culture at Journey Training. We have an amazing training staff that truly cares about everyone who walks through our doors. Every trainer is friendly, engaging, professional, and qualified to help each client. We attract wonderful clients that are friendly, coachable, and motivated to make positive changes in their lives.

Not only do we provide great services and coaching, but we desire to make a lasting impact on each client’s personal lives, helping them become better people and live healthier lives.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been outgoing, loud, and engaging. I love fitness, sports and food. II love being around people, which is probably why I love coaching and the gym culture.

I get along with strangers very easily and I make new friends easily. Every day is a good day and the hardest part about my job is demonstrating exercises while being extremely sore!
