Meet Tamarria Denga of T.D. Writes Publishing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamarria Denga.

Tamarria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been writing everything from short stories, poems, and songs since I was a young girl growing up in the suburbs of Dallas, TX, but it wasn’t until I was in my late twenties when I realized that I wanted to be a writer, and it would be another six years before the dream of becoming a published author would come to fruition.

So many ideas were lost, stories left unfinished because of my lack of discipline to see it through. It took a lot of faith in God and support from those closest to me to get to where I am today.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been nothing remotely close to smooth, but I believe the challenges I was faced with and are still faced with are necessary to accomplish the end goal. It’s been said many times before… “nothing good comes easy”, and it shouldn’t. The challenges are what help shape our character. It builds endurance and establishes patience. My biggest struggle has always been and still continues to be me, myself, and I. Often times, I’m paralyzed with fear. Fear of putting myself out there and not being “accepted”. Sometimes, I want to quit and go and hide under a rock (lol). It has taken my faith in God to refocus my thoughts from what I’m doing to why I’m doing it. In short, it’s not about “me”. It’s about all of those people who will benefit in some way from what I have to offer, and for me, that’s enough to keep going.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
It was very important for me to write and self-publish my first novel, so I started my own publishing company in early 2017–T.D. Writes Publishing. July 20, 2018, my debut novel–Spirit Lake (a faith-based, small-town romance), book one of a series–was released. I’m also a blogger and poet. I’ve been criticized a few times for writing Christian fiction but it’s something I won’t stray away from. I owe everything, including the gift of writing to my Creator, and if I can glorify Him using this gift, then that’s exactly what I will continue to do. Besides, it’s extremely fulfilling and satisfying knowing that my work is not only entertaining but may also encourage and uplift someone else who’s looking for a light in a dark place.

What are your plans for the future?
Write! Write! and write some more! The ideas just keep coming so I’m hoping to release more books in the future. I’m currently working on completing and releasing my second novel this year with hopes of following up with book two of the Spirit Lake series next year.
