Meet Susan Ginsberg of Stop and Breathe in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Ginsberg.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Susan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there
In October of 2007, I founded Stop and Breathe®. A former yoga/meditation instructor and educator for many years, I began to see the benefits of the healing practice of healthy breathing and relaxation/visualization techniques and wanted to share it with others outside of the yoga studio.

I reached out to my local hospital, in the Chicago area at the time, and began working with surgical patients before and after their surgery. When the hospital staff saw the huge benefits, they sent me over to the Kellogg Cancer Center to work with patients during their chemotherapy treatments. I can’t tell you how gratifying it was to work with a patient with extreme anxiety over a procedure, diagnosis, or treatment, and bring them peace and comfort. I soon trained others to provide this as well and it is still going strong, despite my move to Arizona.

Shortly after providing the hospital & cancer center work, I branched out to provide this well-needed wellness service to corporations and organizations. I even provided a workshop for our own United States Marine Corps! These workshops provide healthy breathing, relaxation, and visualization skills to help manage daily stress and live a healthier, more peaceful life. I also teach insomnia-busting techniques, since so many are sleep deprived and struggle with healthy ways to fall asleep.

The greatest teachers in my life are the amazing clients that have faced various types of adversity-cancer, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, chronic pain, loss of a loved one- and found the inner strength to persevere. When one of my students who was battling breast cancer told me that not only were the teachings I provided instrumental in her fight, but helped her cope during chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries, I felt compelled to share these valuable tools to those in need of comfort and inner peace during turbulent and stressful moments.”

As a professional speaker/communicator, I provide “Relaxy Hour”, “Zenful Aging”, and Mindful EmPOWERment workshops to companies, organizations, residential communities, and individuals here in Arizona. These highly popular workshops are not only highly informative but tremendously soothing, as well.

Whereas there are many different types of life coaches out there, I call myself a ‘Life EmPOWERment Coach,’ as I help people get to the root of what they are trying to achieve in their lives and manifest that change while practicing healthy breathing and relaxation strategies.

I also released the’ Deep Relaxation Series- Guided Breathing, Relaxations, and Visualizations’ to share my life’s work and passion with others seeking a way to combat the devastating impact of stress and anxiety. These easy to follow and enjoyable to listen to downloads available on most music streaming sites, provide instruction on healthy breathing, guided relaxation, and visualization techniques which provide a healthy respite from day to day living and guide listeners down a path to overall wellness.

There is a myriad of reasons why someone may experience stress- whether it be personal, occupational, or medical. Through providing Stop and Breathe workshops, private sessions, and Deep Relaxation- Guided Breathing, Relaxations, and Visualizations Series audio downloads, I am committed to sharing these valuable tools with individuals and companies to learn a more healthful way to combat this stress and find inner peace and wellness.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to where I am with my passion, Stop and Breathe, has not always been easy due to us moving a few times! We left Chicago in 2015 and moved to Austin, TX. Just as I got my company registered and began providing workshops in the downtown Austin area, we made a life decision to move to Scottsdale, Arizona.

We got to Scottsdale in 2016 and immediately fell in love with our forever home. However, I once again had to begin anew with my company. When you are a small company, starting over isn’t always easy. You need to build legitimacy, get your name out there, and network a great deal. There was time I thought of throwing in the towel and going into early retirement. However, when you LOVE what you do, that isn’t an option.

In 2019, I was recognized by PHOENIX magazine and honored as one of the ‘Great 48’ professionals across the Valley. This was a huge honor, in that I was only living in Arizona for three years!

I am grateful that when faced with an obstacle or a wall in front of me, I had the perseverance to not give up but stay true to my vision of doing what I truly love the most- helping people find their breath, comfort, and relief during the challenging moments of their lives.

Tell us more about your work.
I love providing “Relaxy Hour”, “Zenful Aging”, and Mindful EmPOWERment workshops to companies, organizations, and residential communities. But I equally love my work with individuals that come to me for private 1:1 sessions. When I get to know people on a more personal level, we really can accomplish a great deal together. People that come to me typically are struggling with a life challenge, an illness, chronic pain, headaches, anxiety, depression, or insomnia. I also work with people that do not have an ailment or a concern per se, but just want to live a healthier, more balanced life.

The private 1:1 sessions are the biggest percentage of my work here in Scottsdale. Recently, I helped a 16 year old girl who struggled with insomnia nearly her entire life. After three sessions with me, she reported that she was sleeping again! Former insomnia myself, I know the frustration of not sleeping and I was so happy to make that huge difference in her life. I am now nicknamed ‘The Sleep Whisperer of Scottsdale’, which I think is kind of funny, but I love helping people who struggle with sleep.

I also am super proud of my ‘Deep Relaxation Series- Guided Breathing, Relaxations, and Visualizations’. These have not only helped my clients here locally, but since it is being streamed all over the world, I love seeing people in far away countries enjoying the healing benefits of healthy breathing, relaxation, and visualization techniques.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I have always been one to want to go with the flow and see where my work takes me. I believe when you are coming from a genuine place and your heart is in the right place as well, with a little effort and a lot of faith, things fall into place. I see myself continuing to work with individuals and companies, but I am open to see where else my passion can flow!
