Meet Stefanie and Bryce Lugo of The Lugos @ My Home Group in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie and Bryce Lugo.

Stefanie and Bryce, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are award-winning REALTORS® here in our native Metro Phoenix, Arizona. Our services include representing buyers, sellers, and investors in the area. Any part of town, any price-point; we’re there.

It wasn’t always that way! Our story starts over five years ago when we were both working in corporate finance. In the early 2010’s, we had felt lucky to have gotten great jobs while the economy was still in the throws of the worst financial downturn in nearly 100 years. But we weren’t fulfilled by our work and knew that we were capable of so much more than the monotony of the corporate 9-5.

One day, Bryce came home with a real estate textbook and told me he knew what he wanted to do with the rest of his life – and would I join him? Over the next few months, we attended our licensing classes at night after our day jobs and passed our final exams around the holidays of 2014. By 2015, we’d both quit our finance careers to start real estate full time together. We haven’t looked back since!

Those first few years were difficult. We had no experience in the industry, no book of business, and a small network. But by leveraging social media, and putting in long days, seven days a week, we were able to replace our corporate incomes in the first 12 months of business in an industry that sees nearly a 90% failure rate in the first years.

Most days, you’ll find the two of us jetting around town to appointments, checking on our remodel projects, or at our Scottsdale office clicking away on our laptops. When we left our corporate jobs to build this dream together, we couldn’t imagine how difficult and demanding our days would become.

But, we also couldn’t have predicted how meaningful and wonderful this journey became. The two of us get to help others buy and sell houses, and we work with other business owners to become their most successful. At home, or in business, we believe that everyone should be empowered to live their best life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For every great experience we’ve had in this business, it can feel like it’s taken two terrible experiences to get there! We underestimated the reality of growing a business in one of the most competitive industries in the country. Not only have we dealt with the struggles of a rapidly changing industry due to social media and technology, but we are also constantly trying to stay ahead of a drastically recovering market here in Metro Phoenix. On top of all that, you wear many hats while growing a business. Bryce and I have had to learn the ins and outs of a new industry, AND best practices in marketing, advertising, accounting, risk management, client care, operations, and so much more. It’s a constant uphill battle to keep the trajectory of our business favorable, but it’s also incredibly empowering and fascinating work.

Please tell us about your work.
Officially, we are The Lugos, a real estate team at My Home Group Real Estate. Primarily, we assist buyers and sellers in Metro Phoenix looking for expert, personable real estate professionals to serve their needs with professionalism and authority. Our brand is founded on values, leadership, and the power of a positive and lasting reputation: building a fresh future in real estate and nurturing a legacy to attract recognition + withstand competitive pressures and market shifts alike, while establishing market leadership in the community. We also appeal to other industry colleagues who are interested in collaborating with or being educated by, established market leaders in the greater Phoenix community + beyond (us!). Stefanie, in particular, has a passion for education in our industry and has taught classes and workshops on best practices to thousands of real estate agents around the country.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Over the course of our business, we’ve found that there’s truly no replacement for experience and sound guidance. Stefanie likes to think that if we could go back, we’d immediately invest in coaching to help us shorten the learning curve and get to the next level sooner. Bryce would place a greater emphasis on getting our systems established more quickly than we did.
