Meet Sarah and Lee Brush of EVENTive Brush in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah and Lee Brush.

Sarah and Lee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our small business is EVENTive Brush. We rent handmade games for weddings, parties, events and any other special occasion. We also create custom games for sale. It all started with a Birthday party! Our family tradition is to throw BIG Birthday celebrations at our home for our kids. Our house is decorated for weeks before the party and we are always brainstorming about creative ideas to execute the theme. Brooklyn (11) and Dylan (10) also participate in the planning. I will quote my daughter “Some people spend money on fancy things or expensive cars, but my parents throw special parties and those are the memories that last forever!” 🙂

In 2017, we hosted our daughter’s Birthday party which was a few weeks before Father’s Day. Lee built yard games for entertainment at the party. Some of the guests had asked if they could buy games for gifts. This was the start of EVENTive Brush. Our focus was on selling the games in 2017-2018. In 2019, we transitioned to rentals in addition to custom game orders.

A little about us. Sarah Brush has been a corporate event planner for nearly 20 years with a passion for building partnerships, collaborating with other small businesses, organizing (the little details make the biggest impact) and getting creative with party planning! Lee transforms the vision into reality. He uses his Engineering and Construction background to build the custom games and décor. Bonus! He is also an artist so we always have a painting of the party theme to remember an event. We love everything about celebrating all of life’s special moments and making big memories. EVENTive Brush allows us to bring fun and entertainment to other people’s special occasions and that makes us happy!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We had to evolve in our business plan. We originally started creating games to sell at markets, events and stores. After about 18 months of Lee spending a large amount of his time in the garage making games after work and the weekends, we realized this path was not the balance we wanted for our family. This is when we transitioned into game rentals in addition to custom orders.

Please tell us about your business.
We create handmade wood games for rentals for weddings, parties, events and any other special occasion. In addition, we create custom games for families, resorts, restaurants, events and more! Lee puts a lot of work, time and detail into each game. We are proud to offer a high quality product that we truly feel is a work of art. We hope that the games bring lots of fun, laughter and entertainment to others!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking forward to creating more partnerships with other businesses and adding more games and other party decor to our inventory. We also plan to promote our event and party planning services as the next phase of our business.
