Meet Rick Borden of Borden Real Estate Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Borden.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a young family man in California while working for First American Title Insurance Company of Modesto in 1988 I first heard Zig Ziglar say his famous words. “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help other people get what they want.”

As a young man in my 20’s I was immediately able to take ownership of this and owned it as my own saying, I believe in this to a fault, it is said that our biggest strengths are our own biggest weaknesses. Through the years I have slowly learned that not all people want to go places in their lives or have a desire to personally or professionally grow. Anthony Robbins also spoke to me directly in my 20’s the very same year when I listened to my first audio cassette series of his called personal power, he discussed constant and never-ending improvement. I took this to heart when I heard him discuss what people had to do to grow in their lives and accomplish amazing things for themselves and for others, through others.

Over the next two years, I listened to many audio cassette tapes and started my journey of self-improvement listening to Zig Ziglar, Dennis Waitley, Ken Blanchard, Anthony Robbins and many others. I was on my way to what would ultimately become my purpose in life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a business owner, we have been faced with many challenges over the years and will continue to be challenged with obstacles each year. We have failed at many things and have come out stronger than before. We have a philosophy of failing forward, this allows us to learn from our lessons and to never quit. Some struggles in the past have been being able to Spot The Tells of how the industry and real estate markets are changing. Now, we can Spot the Tells and are writing the book on New Norms…literally! Today’s real estate agents are faced with technology challenges as they have been in the past. Technology companies and Wall Street are trying to take us Realtors out of the picture. Our business model is all about the people and our relationships with them. Always coming from a place of contribution.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Borden Real Estate Network story. Tell us more about the business.
The “Borden Real Estate Network” is based out of Scottsdale, Arizona we coach, consult and educate buyers, sellers, and investors of real estate. We are highly skilled in most every aspect of the transaction. What I am known for is the No B.S. Real Estate Broker. Said differently, my philosophy is that people 100% of the time want the truth and No B.S. My clients love me, and agents respect me. The foundation of this stems from personal and professional accountability in all things. What sets me apart from everyone else is my personal relationship with my clients, friends, and family. I come from a coaching background and help others to achieve their goals at a very high level.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The definition of luck: Success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions.

With over 20 plus years in real estate, we have been lucky to see the market in all aspect’s. Good and bad. Luck has played a role in our business. Buying investment property before interest rates climbed, selling a property before the crash. I would like to say I saw the crash and predicted it. However, I did not see the market tanking like it did years ago. I would have to say luck has not played a role in our success or failure we have been Blessed more than anything else!
