Meet Ricardo Luis Canez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Luis Canez.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I guess my artistic journey is all about giving back. After over 38 years as a musician, performer, promoter and businessman, I’ve taken those experiences to now help students and aspiring musicians grow their talents, mindset and business knowledge to prepare them for a career in the music industry. And to do it under their terms.

I host a podcast for musicians, (, a YouTube channel that offers insight musicians and creatives can apply in their lives and career and Mastermind workshops to strengthen their intentions and leverage their talents. The “Why” of Fermata Media Group and our partners is to inspire the next generation of music leaders and further the creation of great music.

Please tell us about your art.
Our “art” is really being mentors and a resource to those who take their music talent seriously. Our partners and I have a great deal of music and lifestyle knowledge. I’ve been a musician or involved in performance for over 38 years. If nothing else, people should take away that I love music, the musicians and respecting the art of creating music.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Decide what you’re really worth. Don’t get lazy and accept what the market says you should make. Learn how to leverage your social proof and talent. There are plenty of opportunities that you may not realize exist. You must network. You must grow your arsenal of talents to make yourself more attractive to those who might want to hire you. Above all, never give up.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can see our work thru the students and musicians we work with. You can also listen to our podcasts and videos with musicians. We also create websites for artists and help with their social media strategies.

You can support us by first, encouraging and supporting your local musicians. Go see them live. Buy their music and merch. Support school programs for music students.

We’re always available to talk to artists who want to make music their career. Support our podcast, our mission, our workshops. You can contact us for all the details.
