Meet Rae Black of Rae Black Extensions and Arizona Mobile Detail

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae Black.

Rae, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2005, I became a flight attendant for SkyWest Airlines and I’m proud to say I am still employed there. After becoming a mother 2006, I decided to relocated to Denver Colorado in 2007. In 2009, I founded Pink and Black Beauty Collections now known as Rae Black Extensions. My motivation was due to years of bad experiences with the hair I purchased. After a long run with purchasing hair that would constantly shed and tangle, I decided to do my research and find a source that made 100% human hair. My goal was to sell high quality, affordable hair that the average working woman such as myself could afford.

In 2011, I graduated from cosmetology school from the Aveda Institute Denver and started working part time as a hair extension stylist, and pursuing my cosmetology educators certificate. It was then that my eyes were opened to new experience and new clientele. My clients ranged from women with scarring alopecia, damaged hair from relaxers and enlightener as well as women that wanted to grow and wear their natural hair.

In October 2014, I transferred bases with the airlines to expand my business and further my career in the airline industry. It also gave me and my son the opportunity to be near family. In July of 2015, I got the opportunity to work part time as a braiding and hair extensions specialty educator at the Aveda Institute Phoenix.

My greatest accomplishment has been the continuous growth of my hair extension line, I like seeing my customers happy and satisfied. For more information, you can go to my website at . I distribute hair extensions to various beauticians, salons and the public. I am focused on growing my hair extension business, doing hair and creating photo shoots that show cases Rae Black Extensions. My business is on the rise and my future is looking bright. I am excited and looking forward in seeing what the future holds for me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has a bumpy but still rewarding ride, my biggest challenges are those that want to speak negatively about my hard work and also those that do not believe in me and in what I’m doing. One of my best friends always encourages me to just stay the course and keep going forward and that is always what I do on the daily. I’ve learned that if you are not for me then you are against me and there is no room or time for the in between area.

Please tell us about Rae Black Extensions and Arizona Mobile Detail.
I distribute hair extensions to local salons and hair stylist nationally. I also specialize in braid placement, hair restoration and hair extensions. I work with cancer and alopecia patients and create for them a whole new head of hair. I also teach part time cosmetology school for Inspire Greatness Aveda institutes as their hair extensions educator for the Aveda Institute Phoenix, Provo, Tucson and Denver. What sets me apart I have to say is probably my honesty and customer service. I keep it very real with my clients and my students I give them facts and raw information from my experiences.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from child hood is my older brother Dion Black who we facilitate Arizona Mobile Detail together, him riding me on the handle bars of his bike across town to our friend Ruben and Letticia’s house every week to go play.
