Meet Quinlan Wilhite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinlan Wilhite.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was introduced to streetwear toward the end of junior high (2003) and have had an appreciation for it ever since – but I didn’t expect to end up making my own! In 2009, I started an online feed called QMULATIVE to document my interests: skateboarding, the automotive scene, hip-hop, and street art. The following summer, to get a feel for the industry, I interned in LA for 2 private-label hat companies and 2 boutiques. I collaborated on a snap-back with Frontline Exclusive (Tucson, AZ) and, from there, it was off to the races! Since my grandmother taught me how to sew 5 years ago, I’ve taken classes to refine my craft, shown at Tucson Fashion Week, and was awarded 2018 lifestyle designer-of-the-year at Phoenix Fashion Week this past October!

Please tell us about your art.
QMULATIVE’s signature product is the AZ (shaped) pocket tee! My lifestyle brand is evolving/expanding to offer cohesive cut&sew collections, with inspiration ranging from the southwest, to skateboarding, to architecture! I enjoy crossing disciplines and sharing my journey whenever possible, and love to sew on-site at events because of the interactive experience it brings! We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
For advice, suggestions, critique, possibly utilizing their network, to collaborate, how-to’s, anything! I’m more than happy to share what I know, mistakes and all, to push and strengthen this community! “Let’s bridge the gap between emerging talent and established, to change the fabric of our community!”
-Quinlan Wilhite, QMULATIVE
