Meet Pima of Dirty Subliminal StonAz in Maryvale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pima.

Pima, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I’m Pima a.k.a. karmello drip from Maryvale baby I guess it started when I was young not knowing what I wanted to do. I’m from a struggling family, grew up around bad influences I’ve seen what the streets, alcohol and drug life does around me at a young age but made the best of what we had and taught to stay humble. But always dreamed big like every other kid. I was always creative loved music had a vision and crazy imagination. Even though I grew up on the radio and CDs lying around before we could afford internet or phones it became my escape from reality along with videogames and T.V, then the street life, when I was in high school, took over an everything changed for a while I was always achieving high getting lit or hustlin and just didn’t give a fuk. People knew me as Pima and a stoner so I ran with it but being that a hustler I had to flip it on them and put it into a hustle. two other homies I knew me we’re starting out a clothing line/ rap group EMASK “earn money and smoke kush” when I was 18 after ambition to do something rose. We were into hip-hop and started rapping for fun just bullshitting before I wanted to take it seriously.

I originally was thinking of shirt designs, but they liked my writing an before I knew it others liked my rapping. Two of us made one shirt each then when someone asked me to make them four shirts on the first day rocking my shirt idea willing to pay me for it, even though I couldn’t afford to, it lit a desire in me that took over an spilled into reality. Around that time I met one of my other older homies that was a big help. I liked what he was doing working on a studio label an I wanted to be apart of it. Even though we were building from the ground up music-wise I got a commitment, hustle, and a flaming passion for it and the entertainment. He later introduced me to Mex Manny and that built more of a good foundation for quality sound, music production and helped build more relations because no one really is going to take you seriously unless you put your money where your mouth is. This soon leads to other local artists, producers willing and wanting to work with me. Before I knew it I was motivated in grind mode to promote work on myself as an independent artist. Even tho we were having fun, I felt I was the only one taking it seriously. I swear I lost my mind but found what I wanted to do in life. I was so committed that I told them I didn’t want to go to a club until my songs were playing in the club haha.

It sucks passing opportunities to move out, get cars, have a girlfriend, or have good times but that was all apart of the sacrifices I had to make. Being 18-19 I was tryna live it up but knew it would all be worth it in the long run if I could focus on investing in myself. This created the artist Pima and 30SsEnt “Dirty Subliminal StonAz”, covering the creative dark and light side of the mind, but to let people know we’re on there conscious, we get down and ain’t afraid to get dirty. Staying with the origin of a pro-marijuana friendly business from Arizona also building to offer services and work with other opportunities that were also always apart of the vision like videos, photography, directing, acting, etc. all that fun stuff that comes with the entertainment business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some challenges would be working on myself mentally when I feel down, anger issues an who I’m around. I got to keep people around me that got a similar spark for there hustle or just good spirit. Another is I’m easy to get distracted while working on projects so staying focused is a challenge for me aside from stuff around me but that all comes with any persons ambition to do something there’s anything to stop you even yourself from achieving your goals or dreams.

Tell us about your business.
We get it Poppin! known for coming out of Maryvale and having good quality production, business associates, partners and act out on the hustle. I’m a up close and personal kind of person so that sets me apart and ain’t afraid to go the extra mile to put it out in a song, or product I can enjoy like a good picture. plus one of my main hittas is cold with the beats and production so that’s half of the battle for a track, the other comes with me. Currently Working on new shirts and jackets to hop back in the fashion part of business, I have been offered a couple of local hip-hop show performances but we’re only growing and creating new opportunities. getting better exposure and getting helped to work with bigger artists.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Shout out my boy Rigo for helping me out with studio stuff and being someone to give me advice and help in life. A shout-out to Mex Manny in Atlanta From Az for helping me out and also being there for me and saying I should call myself karmello Drip. I’m Thankful both of them put up with me and that made us closer together like fam. I’m also thankful for Kari I’ve known her since high school she’s always cheered for me and been supporting in many ways. Sometimes I don’t deserve her because she’s been a solid person at times when I wasn’t but when I feel down she can bring me up.
