Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexy Romano.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lexy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I first moved to Phoenix about two years ago from New York City, I was convinced that Phoenix didn’t have the kind of culture I had been used to in NYC. However, after living in Mid-town Phoenix, I started finding awesome little places that were locally owned and operated and had amazing experiences to offer. Everything from local candle makers to wine bars and burger joints; I started to see that Phoenix has a vibrant and growing local culture! As I discovered these places I wanted to share them with others, and a show where I introduce people to the best of Phoenix sounded like the perfect way to do it!
As the host of the show, I am often visiting places for the first time myself, so people get to see what it’s like to go somewhere new and give it a try. The concept behind interviewing the owner is to highlight how many small business owners there are right here in the Valley. And who better to tell our viewers all about each business than the owner themselves!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with anything new, starting was very slow. Getting businesses interested in being featured on the show wasn’t always easy. I had to be very patient and understand that things take time and it wouldn’t happen overnight. Even now I am impatient for the show to grow and expand, but I know that with time good things will grow naturally and organically, all we can do is continue to create good content that people are interested in!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Phoenix Finds is a discovery and exploration show highlighting the best of Phoenix, AZ. We focus on highlighting local businesses that are rooted right here in the desert. We specialize in experiences, and while that often time does include food, we are not a portion of food only show. We proudly highlight everything from Hot Air Balloon rides to Axe Throwing! As a company, we also pride ourselves on interviewing the owners of these businesses and allowing them to speak directly to their audience. We feel this provides a connection of the owner to their audience and makes it more about an individual experience.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck, good and bad, has brought certain people in and out of my life and business. I have had the absolute pleasure of being lucky enough to have met and worked with some wonderful people, and yet bad luck has sometimes taken those people on different paths. I believe that any time spent with these people has been a benefit to the show, and I look forward to some more good luck bringing more great people into my life and the show in the future!
