Hi Nino, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
Hi, y’all! I’m Nino Daniel, resident funny man-dancer-actor-rapper! My family & I moved to the United States back in summer of 1995 for a better chance at life and greater opportunity. Over the years, I kept up with school, garnered two college degrees and graduated triple honors. After college, I got into doing some choreography work for local artists, movie directors and competitions. I’m really enjoying it all! I love making people laugh which caused a mega surge of followers on TikTok. Now, I’m here doing what I love with all of my blessings!

At the time of this interview, how long have you been doing dance and choreography professionally?
5 years! I just celebrated 5 years on March 6th, 2021!

We hear the phrase “The Devil is in the details” often. Take an opportunity to describe the details you sift through when crafting a choreography piece or dance routine.
Everything, honestly. I look at everything. If there are dancers: I pay attention to spacing, linearity, how the costumes interact with lighting, natural elements (if outside) etc…, flow of movement, pacing and timing (THE MOST IMPORTANT). When it’s a stage performance, timing and characterization is my key focus. If it’s a movie or music video, I focus on what everyone’s facial structures are communicating and if they are committed to the routine (physically and character-wise). Plus like 934,000 other things. You have to also realize that stage performances are ONE & DONE…which just means that every element from choreography to lighting to blocking has to be as close to exact as possible. When we’re shooting a music video/filmed piece, we have some more play room, but someone may give it their all in one section and diminish their character after. Then it becomes a game of consistent takes which causes lethargy quicker. I know some of my dancers will read this and they know that I am strict with timing and facial expression. So if you breathe wrong, we take it from the top again. I’m only half kidding…hahaha!

From your knowledge and experience, what do you feel it takes to have longevity in the field of dance and choreography?
Professionalism, integrity, & communication. Show up for yourself and do so on time. Know what you’re signing up for and commit to it. Ask questions, ask more questions and then follow up with a few more questions. I personally do not stand alongside diva behavior or “Holier Than Thou” antics. We’re all one. We’re all the same fighting for our version of the same dream. Each of us is important and has the ability to play a vital role in our success as well as those around it. Keep it professional, have integrity within yourself and speak on what needs to be spoken on.

We know about dance and choreography. Tell us what else you’ve been working on?
Oooh! Okaaay! I am so blessed to have been able to have creative work during this pandemic, I wanted to voice that first and foremost. Presently, ventures outside of dance include the legal and ethical framework of a new business, completing a movie (YALL, FULL BLOWN MOVIE), writing some raps with an amazing producer (Taki Brano), keeping up a TikTok presence with my comedy skits (that app completely changed my life and those who support me on there…LOVE YOU SO MUCH), additional business and brand collaborations as well! It’s truly an amazing experience. I am genuinely blessed and extremely humbled to be able to expand to all of this in just under a year. Special thanks to my family at Music BREAKr for allowing me the platform to work with artists directly and use my creativity to do so!

How have you used present-day social media/social apps to boost your career and exposure?
I want to say that I finally got over my fear of having to “look” a certain way or “appeal” to a certain audience. I present myself at 100% across all social platforms, BUT I do also use the platforms for specific things. Social media has become my new business card. You wanna laugh? Here’s my TikTok!
