Today we’d like to introduce you to Marla Vance .
Marla, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I first started in the party rental industry in the year 2000 after my daughter was born. I had a friend that acquired the trade name and the inventory but he needed someone to help him that knew how to run a business and that is when he called me! At that time I was running a home business selling used photographic equipment worldwide as well as doing various photography jobs. I originally started part time to get him going and then it quickly developed into a full time job. Digital photography was becoming more and more popular and film was phasing out so I continued to sell off my equipment and jumped into the Party Rental industry full time and became a 20 percent partner after a few years.
Rental World has been known in the valley since 1969 and although has changed hands a couple times we are still growing and going strong.
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part it is a routine business. Being in the state of Arizona we are busy 9 months out of the year and very slow in the summer months of June, July and August. The summer months being so slow can be a struggle financially.
