Meet Marcus Henning of NewView Moving in Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Henning.

Marcus, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2010, I held a security clearance and worked as a government contractor. In pursuit of my bride to be, I moved closer to her family and was trained and then helped manage a moving and delivery company. After our wedding we moved to beautiful Chandler Arizona and I opened my business which evolved into NewView Moving. Fast forward three children and several years later, we are excited to see the potential in this market.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have been blessed with many things from our amazing staff to our outstanding customers but nothing about this business has been easy. When I first started this business I told myself that there is two things that I couldn’t compromise on. One, we would have a great reputation and two, we don’t cut corners. I had no idea at that time what this would mean in the coming years. If I would have known I probably would have talked myself out of it then.

I had no idea how uneven the playing field was in this industry I would of never of guessed that I would have to compete against hundreds of people claiming to be professional moving companies. It still amazes me to this day the lengths that these people go to lie and deceit people into hiring them. Ha, I don’t want to go into a full on rant but this is a very expensive industry and competing against someone cutting corners it can be really depressing at times. You are constantly thinking if I just cut this corner like they do then maybe I could have got the customer that just laughed at me and said “You are too expensive, I just got off the phone with someone willing to do it for $100 less”.

The other thing I mentioned was how important keeping a great reputation is to me. This is extremely hard especially because a lot of times this comes down to those scenarios where you don’t really know exactly what happened but being a mover the blame gets pointed your way. Like a small scratch in a fridge or a lamp breaking. You don’t know if maybe a magnet was over the scratch and it got overlooked or maybe the lamp was already broke and it just finally fell apart in our hands. What I do know is either way you got an unhappy customer and you know your insurance doesn’t cover those types of things. So what do you do you make the customer happy and you take care of it. What they don’t know is you’re a small business and this sometimes means you won’t be paying your mortgage on time this month and most likely will be working 90 hours this week to make up for it. Which ultimately still takes away from spending time with your wife and kids. I stopped counting how many times this has happened. What do you do just stay positive and keep going? Or give up? That’s your options.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
“We’re more than just a moving company…”

In this day and age, consumers are faced with so many choices and it’s not always easy to navigate through it all. Sometimes larger corporations are your best bet, after all if they are big they must be doing something right, right? Maybe the independent guy posted in the free ads is good enough, but can you really trust him? Who do you turn to help you move from your family home, where every room is filled with treasured keepsakes and memories?

At NewView Moving, we’re more than just a moving company. We are a small to mid-size, local, family owned and operated business that prides itself on meeting the unique and specific needs of our customers.

About a year ago while completing one of our Senior Moves with our partner Seniormoves.org, it occurred to us that we have much more to offer than just a truck and a couple of able-bodied men. We realized that we have a talent to offer options and real solutions. You see, when these clients first contacted us they carried the weight of the world on their shoulders. This family was about to lose their home to foreclosure and they didn’t know what steps to take, much less which ones to take first. They welcomed us into their home and with their help, our team was able to put all the right pieces in place including finding them temporary housing, personally handling their storage needs, facilitating an estate sale, and eventually resettling them into their new home. The overwhelming expressions of hope and gratitude from everyone involved really resonated with all of us, and proved that this is exactly what we’re meant to be doing.

My long-time friend of over 20 years, Robert, came to work with me and together we enjoy paving our true direction and growth as a company. He is a fun-loving uncle to my wife’s and my beautiful daughters so when we say “family owned and operated”, we mean it! Our beliefs and company ethics are strongly tied around family and values, and we look forward to helping you begin your next new chapter in life.
