Meet Malcolm Amato of Amato Enterprise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malcolm Amato.

Hi Malcolm, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my installation career in 2009, I didn’t even own a drill at first, I was borrowing my bosses tools. I was installing appliances and electronics. I was HORRIBLE. I made so many mistakes that I couldn’t be trusted in the field by myself.

I probably had way too much on my plate, being someone who came into the field a novice, to suddenly being tasked with installing ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, and wall mounting TVs. So I got my workload scaled back to one task at a time and over the next 3 years I mastered all of them.

Fast forward to 12 years later. Here I am with a 5 star rating on thumbtack and in high demand for my tv wall mounting service. I can put a TV up in 20 minutes with no flaws now, as compared to when I started it took me 20 minutes to stop hyperventilating because I was so overwhelmed by the damn thing.

A lot of ground has been covered and a lot of progress made. I took no shortcuts and I wasn’t afraid to look stupid in order to get better, and I’m still not afraid today. As long as at the end of it all I’m thorough in what I do and anyone who hires me knows that a 100% knowledgeable man is stepping into their home and won’t let them down.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Lol I guess I covered most of this question in my previous answer (sorry I didn’t know what question was coming next), but no it wasn’t smooth at all. I was pretty bad when I started out. I was fairly athletic growing up, I dabbled in the street life, and I was generally pretty lost and directionless overall, so when I saw that success in sports and the streets wasn’t gonna fall in my lap and had way too many pitfalls I wasn’t willing to take chances with, I was sort of a man without a country and I had no skills that were really applicable to the responsible adult world.

As you know, we’re big fans of Amato Enterprise. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The name of my business is Amato Enterprise. I specialize in wall mounting televisions, home theatre setups and furniture assembly. What I’m most proud of is field knowledge. I wear my past mistakes as a badge of honor, I have 100% confidence in my ability to do a perfect install every time because I have bumped my head in every conceivable way early on in my career (including having a cat knock over and destroy a TV I was about to mount, weird) so I know there’s nothing that can catch me off guard at this point in year 12 of my journey.

I can be found on the Thumbtack app under Amato Enterprise, and on Instagram @amato_enterprise.

I offer great rates, far better than the retail stores, and I guarantee quick, efficient work and quick response times.

What’s next?
My plans for the future are to expand into the Tucson area and even into Nevada. I’ve already begun helping Airbnb owners set up their rental units and I eventually am looking to branch out into my own Airbnb ownership.
