Meet Lynae Parrott and Leann Waisath of LMOH Interiors in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynae Parrott and Leann Waisath.

Lynae and Leann, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As sisters, we had the unique opportunity to have careers in a corporate setting where we actually got to work together for over 15 years. When the company restructured, we found ourselves unemployed and astutely aware that owning our own business would give us a greater sense of security and allow us to create our destiny on our own terms. The actual decision to start our own business wasn’t planned, in fact we say it was the quickest, most inspired decision ever. We each were exploring other avenues of work, Lynae considering her own consulting business and Leann an interior design opportunity with another studio, when we were talking and came to the same conclusion that our individual paths just weren’t feeling right. We made the decision right then to start our own interior design business and met the next day to develop a business plan, secure a business license and file papers with the attorney. With no time to even consider not doing it, LMOH Interiors was official!

We’ve spent our careers in the realm of executive leadership, marketing and product development in the home fragrance and home décor industry.

Therefore, the leap into interior design was a totally natural one. Of course, it helped that from a young age, Leann had always wanted to be an interior designer. So, it was during this career hiatus that she took advantage of the time off and went to design school. We love that the training provided the technical aspects to our already intuitive design abilities and passion for bringing ideas to life.

We are often asked what LMOH stands for? The LM represents both our first and middle initial while the OH embodies the delightful sound that typically erupts when we know a design is just right – as in “ohhhhh we love it!” The OH serves as our guide in developing swoon worthy projects for our clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
We often say starting our business hasn’t been easy, but the truth is it hasn’t been difficult either. We started our interior design business armed with passion, interior design training, years of business experience and a vision BUT we literally didn’t have one client. It was really scary knowing we didn’t have one lead to get us started when we began our business – it was definitely our biggest hurdle. We launched several marketing campaigns which got us in front of new clients and then boy, did we hustle! We focused on a high-quality client experience, ensuring we provided creative and unique design solutions personalized to each clients’ lifestyle. As a result, we are most proud of our client referrals. We consider them to be the best compliment we could ever receive!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the LMOH Interiors story. Tell us more about the business.
When people find out that we are sisters, they can’t believe that we like each other enough to work AND play together! We find the synergy and fun that we have amongst ourselves is contagious and our clients delight in working with #theinteriordesignsisters. When we started our business, we made a conscious decision to create designs that were specialized for our clients’ needs and not just what we wanted to design. We LOVE curating personalized, livable luxe spaces that are as diverse and eclectic as our clients!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We are optimistic about the future of interior design and its opportunities. The industry has already experienced drastic shifts with the downturn in 2008 and emerging access to information for do it yourself consumers. Interior design used to be more exclusive and the resources were unknown to those outside the industry. We see this trend continuing, however, access to information will never replace an interior designer’s technical and creative abilities to bringing a stellar design to life. There are just too many considerations that only a trained designer takes into account.
