Meet Luke Brenes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Brenes.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born & raised in New Orleans, LA but moved to Texas in 2016 after making music my priority. I made my way to Tucson in the summer of 2018, and that is where I currently reside. Growing up, my mom always had CDs laying around, and I remember being introduced to electronic club music at a young age. I learned how to produce music around late 2012 after being introduced to dubstep in high school. In 2013 I learned how to DJ. I was too young to join the club circuit, but I was getting booked regularly for middle school dances in my hometown.

Please tell us about your art.
I produce electronic music, meaning, I program drums, synths, and other elements that make up a whole track but just on my laptop. My goal is to be able to play my music around the world and to continue to create music full time as well as work with other musicians and artists. As for my artwork, I just want it to grab peoples attention.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I can totally relate to the feeling of being lonely. A part of my craft requires sitting alone in front of a computer screen hours on end, which sometimes can hurt my creativity. The best way I was able to find other artists in my community was facebook. As soon as I moved to Tucson, I went on a hunt for facebook groups which ultimately got me involved in the local circuit.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
All of my original tracks can be streamed on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, and every other major streaming service. All you have to do is search ‘Cursor.’ My remixes (aside from official) are only available via Soundcloud. The best way to support my work would have to be staying up to date with my track releases and shows by shooting a follow on Insta, Twitter, and Snapchat: @cursorofficial
