Today we’d like to introduce you to Louis Robinson.
Louis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After High school, I enlisted in the Airforce and became a Military Working Dog handler (that’s the equivalent of a K-9 police officer). After my enlistment I received an honorable discharge and returned to civilian life. Then in 2007 I founded Robinson Dog Training.
Since starting Robinson Dog Training I have been recognized nationally as a leader in the K-9 Training industry (although most of the dogs I work with these days are pets). I have finished my first dog training book, it’s called FIDO which stands for Fundamentals in Dog Obedience. It’s the same information I use to teach my clients about training.
This year in addition to running Robinson Dog Training I founded a non-profit called the Service Dog Fund, whose mission is to provide low-income disabled veterans with service dog training at no cost to them. There has been a huge reception for our cause and I am proud of the wonderful job my beautiful wife Sara-marie is doing to help promote the cause and spread our message.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The 1st few years were pretty tough, I did a lot of scraping by and working odd jobs to make ends meet. I would work long hours and late night into the night but I wouldn’t change a thing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Robinson Dog Training – what should we know?
Founded by a Veteran K-9 Handler Robinson Dog Training (RDT) is the premier Phoenix, dog training company. We serve the entire valley. RDT provides the best of both worlds with private in-home dog training and group classes. The foundations and methods used are based on effective scientifically proven techniques taught by the US Government to our top K-9 Warriors. We believe that by providing owners with a basic understanding of dog behavior and psychology you will have a better dog than you ever imagined. Thousands of others have learned to train their dogs with our program and would highly recommend our services. We offer classes for puppies and adult dogs. RDT provides potty training, obedience, protection, service, therapy, aversion, and problem-solving. I can even help you teach your dog to take out the trash and put dishes in the sink if you like.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family deserves most of the credit. My boys are awesome and they help on some of my training appointments. My wife is amazing and I couldn’t do it without her, she is very driven and motivated and I couldn’t think of a better person to be in charge of our charity.
