Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylee Austin.
Kylee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my fitness journey six years ago after battling with depression, anxiety, and inflammatory diseases. Health and wellness became my life’s passion soon after. My husband was in the Air Force and becoming a fitness professional fit well with our mobile lifestyle, living in Japan and being moved every two years.
While in Japan, we had our first son. I was surprised by how little information was out there about my new postpartum body and how to handle it. I started sharing on Instagram my first journey of regaining fitness after having a baby.
One year later, I got pregnant again. This time it was TWINS! I was in shock. Since then, I’ve used my Instagram platform to “get real” about motherhood, postpartum, self-love, and mental health.
I use my social media influence to help moms feel like they are not alone, that they are doing a great job, and to know they are beautiful just the way they are. I hope by embracing my crazy life and new body, I can inspire others to do the same.
Has it been a smooth road?
The hardest part about being raw and real on Instagram is being exposed to so many different judgments and opinions. I’ve had people comment about my huge twin baby bump saying, “That’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen!” and constant judgment of my parenting and how I should be appreciative about my babies instead of crying about it.
Of course, the thousands of women that have reached out thanking me for being so brave and making them feel not alone negates any of the haters, and if I can help one person feel better, then it’s all worth it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Currently, I am the Healthy Living and Aquatics Director for the Ross Farnsworth East Valley YMCA in Mesa. I am also a personal and group trainer that specializes in helping women with postpartum issues like diastasis recti in person and online. I love helping and inspiring moms to get fit and confident.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love the East Valley! There is so much growth and potential happening out here! Gilbert is a great place for families and a great place for moms! Phoenix is a fitness town, so there are lots of opportunities for trainers like me.
