Meet Kevin Brooks of GreenTree Inn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Brooks.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2004, the first GreenTree Inn hotel opened its doors in Shanghai. Today, through acquisition and franchise development, the GreenTree Inn brand has grown to be the 14th largest hotel brand globally, and operates over 2600 properties worldwide.

In 2015, after experiencing significant growth, in a limited amount of time, GreenTree made the strategic decision to expand its footprint throughout the United States. The first U.S. branded GreenTree Inn was in Phoenix, Arizona at 48th Street and Baseline.

The expansion in the U.S. continues, with eight hotels in Arizona and California, six of which are in Arizona (Phoenix, Mesa, Florence, Prescott Valley, Sedona, and Flagstaff). GreenTree Inn will continue to grow its presence throughout the southwest region of the U.S. with more properties onboarding in the near future.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While not always as smooth as we would like, building a global brand is a company commitment. Part of the reason we started the US operation in the greater Phoenix area is the workforce. Having a great team, makes addressing the challenges of creating/expanding a global footprint into the competitive U.S. hospitality market, a far less daunting task. Our group is attempting to be a market disruptor, thus it is not business as usual, as we attempt to add value for our customers, franchisees, and team members.

This summer we launched our GiveBack Rewards program in the United States and have found early adoption to be impressive. Many industry insiders have indicated such a paid in, Give Back (cash rebate, donation to charity, or stay voucher) program will not be successful, but we are out to prove them wrong.

GreenTree Inn, and GreenTree Inn & Suites is a U.S. based limited service brand dedicated to providing value to our guests, franchisees, and stakeholders.
