Meet Ken and Linda Chan of The Mighty PC in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken and Linda Chan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ken and Linda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Our story began with a question. We were approached by the parents of some of our FutureKiddie* graduates asking us, “Do you sell or have any recommendations for a durable computer my child can use at school?” At the time, since we already had and were utilizing a great resource for repurposed computers, we thought “Why not?”.

Soon after, The Mighty PC (formerly known as Ironman Computers) was born and in no time we began providing similar services to the schools involved in the program. From there, based largely on word of mouth and excellent relationship-building skills, our business grew, expanding to encompass small businesses, non-profits, churches and more.

Today we’re working towards creating awareness for our business on a national level as we desire to serve a greater number of individuals with our customized, high-integrity, relationship-based approach. As we reach for our dreams, don’t be surprised to see us frequently featured in Arizona’s local papers, on Facebook, and even around the neighborhood, helping and providing computer guidance wherever we can!

*Future Kiddie is our sister company that provides STEM-focused educational programs for children ages 3-7 in fun and interesting ways.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning, I was a one-man show. From marketing, accounting, to the operation, I had done all by myself. Constantly switching roles in between. At the same time operating The Mighty PC, I was also running my other business Future Kiddie where we teach a computer class for kids in our local areas. Stress level was at all time high back time. Fortunately, I have been slowly forming a team of amazing people around me & my businesses. My sister Linda came in and we formed a partnership. She is talented with creativity and helps us to look at things outside of the box.

Later on because of word of mouth from a friend, we start working with our PR lady Suzanne who has been constantly helping us locally to be on variety of local media – from getting an interview by the TV reporters to local newspapers & magazines. Now we also have an amazing team of virtual assistants helping our daily business operation. In addition, we hire more teachers for our 2nd business teaching young children computer skills. We are truly grateful and thankful.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We provide repurpose & refurbish business grade computers to educational institutions & small to mid-size business. Our business is driven by and based on two main principals – honesty is our policy and customization is our strategy. We believe in conducting an honest business helping our clients. And we specialize in offering customization to individual’s computing needs. As computer teachers ourselves, we bring a unique perspective to the table when working with educational institutions. we effectively resolve the problem of getting high-quality computers within budget. How do we do this? Through outfitting our customers with repurposed business computers.

It is our experience that this type of computer is the most advantageous as it allows for full customization, lasts longer and costs less both in initial purchase and savings over time due to a smaller number of replacements. On the other hand, we are proud to support other entrepreneurs & organizations through integrity-driven computer solutions. As the owners of two small businesses, we have a pretty good grasp on what it takes to succeed – especially when it comes to technology. Buying computers, outfitting computers, minimizing costs on computers, delivering computers…they’re kind of our thing.

What were you like growing up?
Not going to lie. When I was young, I was a book nerdy. Introverted type of a guy. My sister Linda likes to make fun of me that I was a teacher’s pet. Go figure. Later on in my life, I grow up and make a lot of change. About 13 to 15 years ago, I hit at the bottom of my life and it was around 2005. I flipped houses when the Phoenix real estate market burst its bubbles and crashed. I struggled financially and emotionally at the time.

Fortunately, I had an amazing family supporting me at the time. It took me a long time to dig myself out of the deep hole. I took a few leadership courses and different personal growth & development training in between to improve myself. Today I become a much stronger person and I am grateful and thankful. Well, in between, I learn to have more fun in my life too.
