Meet Kathy Cecchin of Paradise Valley Dermatology

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Cecchin.

Kathy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started many years ago in the Advertising/Marketing arena. Worked for many of the big ad agencies down town doing mostly billing for agencies. After 28 years in marketing, decided I needed to change my career and took some time off. Enrolled in school for aesthetics, which I attended to obtain my aesthetic license. While nearing my graduation, I had to ponder… would I work at a fu-fu spa or a medical spa? I thought that I didn’t want to work nights and weekends, so I opted to go toward the med-spa arena. The laser technician that was in charge at Paradise Valley Dermatology was actually certified with the state to train for laser certification. I took her didactic course and did an internship here in the office working part time firing lasers on anyone who would allow me to fire a laser on them (friend, family and office staff). You have to perform 10 of each treatment that you want to become certified for with the state. The laser technician soon found out that her husband was being re-located out of state for his job and I said “pick me”, “pick me”. I was just in the right place at the right time. I had spent 3 months in the office part time and the staff liked me so I was a shoe in. The rest is history!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, there is definitely a lot to learn about lasers, I am still learning every day. As technology changes and as we purchase new devices or even if the devices are being upgraded with new hand pieces or hardware, there is always something new to learn.

Paradise Valley Dermatology – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Paradise Valley Dermatology has been in business in the same location for over 45 years. Dr. Blair has been in the practice for over 12 years. We have an excellent reputation in the industry, just check our reviews on several social sites. Dr. Blair was very much involved in the laser technology early on in his career with the US Naval services. Dr. Blair was active in the military service for the United States Navy from March 1994 through June 2004 as a General Medical Officer in Okinawa, Japan and an F/A-18 Hornet flight surgeon in Lemoore, California. After working for the Naval Hospital Beaufort in South Carolina as the Department Head for Dermatology, he has continued his career in Dermatology in a private practice as owner of Paradise Valley Dermatology providing multi-dimensional care in both medical and aesthetic aspects of dermatology focusing on skin cancer and laser medicine. He is considered as somewhat of a guru in this arena. I am proud that I have had the opportunity to train under such a distinguished professional. Dr. Blair is very selective on the devices that he purchases, he only purchases the best equipment available that actually works. With being equipped with the very best devices we can manage our patient’s expectations and always deliver raving results.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by the comments that I receive from my patients and the referrals that they give to others for my services. Nothing is more satisfying than making a patient feel better about themselves.
