Meet Karen Bradford of Karen’s Pawsome Pet Care in Northeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Bradford.

Karen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Over the years, friends and family had entrusted their pets in my care so I decided a few years ago that I wanted to start pet sitting professionally. I reached out to a few in the area to see if I could come on board, but many didn’t want someone with no experience. Then I saw an ad on Craigslist from a pet sitter who needed help part time as an independent contractor. Right away I knew this was the right person and I was meant to meet her. She was wonderful and took me on. Over time she showed me everything I needed to know about the business. Last year another pet sitter I was an independent contractor for was retiring and wanted me to take over some of her clients for her. She suggested I start my own LLC and get my insurance etc. to get my own pet sitting business off the ground. I thought perfect since pet sitting as always been a passion of mine. My love for animals began at a very early age. There hasn’t been a time in my life when pets weren’t part of it so starting my own pet sitting business was a dream come true!

I began Karen’s Pawsome Pet Care in 2016 and now have the opportunity to share my love of animals with my clients and pet owners all over the Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and North Phoenix area. I hope I get the chance to meet your lovely pets soon.

Spending my days with animals is the ultimate job. Kinda hard to even call it a “job.” Who can resist wags and purrs, wet kisses and lap naps? Certainly not me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a business I haven’t come across any challenges or obstacles. Some might think that I would have challenges as a business owner since I’ve had Multiple Sclerosis now for 19 years. I think that being in the business of taking care of animals on a daily basis has actually been a positive turn around point for me. Those smiling faces and wagging tails help to get me up every day to go to work!

Karen’s Pawsome Pet Care – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Karen’s Pawsome Pet Care offers dog walks, companionship visits while you’re away, or overnight visits. We do potty breaks for puppies that need to be let out often or also older dogs to help break up the day while you’re at work. Pets get lonely and love to have that extra attention where they feel the most comfortable which is in their own environment. We like for the pets to feel like they’re on their own pawcation while their family is away.

Many clients have called me the cat and dog whisperer because I’m able to have their children feel comfortable which also includes the scared or timid ones that never come out. It’s such a great feeling to know that clients are so happy that their furry children felt so comfortable while they were away. Treat clients like my own family. Clients appreciate that I go the extra mile for them whether they’re in a pinch not just for their pets but also for them as well. Whether they’re on a trip or at work we send them daily updates with a picture so they know that their furry children are doing good. We keep tails wagging!

Karen’s Pawsome Pet Care makes donations to local charities. Some of these have included:
Cause4Paws Pet Food Bank
