Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Jasper.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After being a mental health counselor in community-based agencies for a few years, I decided to make the switch to private practice in 2011. Being in private practice allows me the opportunity provide the quality therapy my clients deserve and the personal freedom to balance work and family life – which is something I discuss with my clients all the time…Find something you love to do, keep growing and learning new skills, and totally enjoy your days off!
Has it been a smooth road?
I have learned so much in my ten years as a therapist and I look forward to working in this field until I retire. One of the biggest struggles therapists tend to have is self-care. I put everything I’ve learned into supporting every client – in every session – which adds up to thousands of hours over the years. Those hours require being fully present with people who are struggling to overcome very personal, meaningful, and often painful issues. As I therapist, I have to make sure to practice what I preach: Take time off when needed, exercise outside often, nurture healthy relationships, and focus on what’s important. For me, running a private practice and providing therapy is my ideal career. I couldn’t be happier with it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
When my clients tell me that I have been able to help them resolve issues that others have not been able to help with, I know that I am just the right fit – at the right time – for my clients. My current passion is hypnotherapy…
I am one of only two in the Phoenix area currently trained to provide “Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy” which is an amazing approach to healing. My clients also tell me I am down to earth, quick to find patterns, and really help them to feel empowered. There are some absolutely amazing therapists in the Phoenix area but I do not believe that certain therapists are magic. I believe everyone has value. It is about the relationship. The most important aspect in successful outcomes is to have a good therapeutic relationship. This requires the client to be ready to work on their issues and for the therapist to have to clinical skills to meet their clients’ needs. I am fortunate to have an excellent track record with successful outcomes but I know when my clients meet their treatment goals – the kudos go to them.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Phoenix is always growing! I love that my office is located in a peaceful area in Northwest Phoenix. For someone who is willing to put in the time and effort to start a business, Phoenix a great city.
