Meet The Kaleidoscope Kid

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Kaleidoscope Kid.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was 21 years old when I picked up a guitar, about two months after that I ended up in the hospital for 5 days and sleepless nights, after a few days of nurses scurrying in and out, needles, tests, etc. I left the hospital with a diagnosis of a rare auto immune disease. my body was a complete war zone, and I left the hospital with a month of recovery still ahead. I couldn’t even talk, let alone sing, for over a month. during that time, I obsessively played guitar, and wrote lyrics in notebooks, just to help cope with the pain I was experiencing. That time I spent with the guitar while I healed, created a bond that would send my life into a direction I could have never imagined. four years, and a couple hundred songs later, and I am still playing music every day, still using it to heal, both physically and emotionally, and still sharing my story.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a musician. I enjoy playing with multiple genres, trying to blend things in a unique way. I like being involved in the whole process. producing the beats, writing lyrics, recording my own vocals, and creating visuals to go along with the projects. My music is inspired by life, every day is an opportunity to create, and look at something in a new way. I think growing up in phoenix had a huge influence on how I create, I don’t think I would make the same music if it wasn’t for the time I spent in the desert.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
it reminds me of a quote from Terrence Mckenna; “If the artist cannot Find the way, the way cannot be found.” I believe that art moves the culture, but I’m not sure where we are going.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
