Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Eriksson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After 9 years of working both retail and wholesale, I started my own wholesale jewelry business doing diamond setting and jewelry repairs and made gold rings selling them to the jewelers in the Midwest. I traveled to these jewelers and reset their client’s diamonds in their stores, while their clients waited for the finished ring. Fun job but after several years, all of the traveling wore me out.
The cold weather of Minnesota started to bother me and I wanted to live in a warmer location. San Diego was my destination, however, a friend convinced me to move to Scottsdale. I opened a store/workshop on 5th Avenue in January of 1983. There we met jewelers who were looking for a diamond setter. After a couple of moves to different buildings, we are now in a Historic Adobe building in Old Town Scottsdale. We still do diamond setting for some local jewelers but have expanded our business. Now, we are making one of a kind creations for our many clients located all over the United States. We love the challenge of working with clients to re-use their gold and diamonds to create new exciting jewelry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A few up and downs as all businesses have.
