Meet Jessica Le, Logan Yoon of Alchemy Hair and Extensions Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Le, Logan Yoon.

Hi Jessica Le, and Logan Yoon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Alchemy Hair and Extensions Studio were started in March 2022 by Jess Le and Logan Yoon. We met working together at another salon in Old Town Scottsdale. From there, we found that we had a similar work ethic and goals, making it an easy decision to go into business together. We knew we could learn a lot from each other, especially since Jess has a variety of experiences outside of the beauty industry, making it easy for her to do a lot of behind-the-scenes work, and Logan has been in the industry; for almost 10 years! She has a lot of knowledge not just in hair but what goes on in the hair industry.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There will always be bumps when starting a new business, especially with more than one person. I think the most challenging part was making the jump and deciding to sign our lease. We enjoyed where we were but knew we needed to go elsewhere to grow & thrive the way we wanted to. We even have struggles now but have found effective communication is one of the best ways we get through it. It sounds cheesy, but communication is KEY.

We’ve been impressed with Alchemy Hair and Extensions Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Alchemy Hair and Extensions Studio were created by two Asian American women who wanted to create a space to perform some “alchemy,”; a power or process that changes or transforms something in an impressive or seemingly magical way. Both of us, Jess and Logan, have been educated and trained to be able to work on all hair types. So that we can accept anyone and everyone in our chairs; not only do we do hair, but Jess has expanded her skills and does nails as well! How many hairstylists do you know can do nails too?? There is no one service or type of hair we like to do. We enjoy doing hair and making everyone feel beautiful. Some of the certifications that we have completed are our Brazilian Blowouts (Jess & Logan), Hair Lingerie Extensions (Logan), and Curated Cutting (Jess & Logan), but that hasn’t limited our education. We have also taken the time to learn multiple extension methods, cutting methods, and different color techniques. This ensures we have all the skills to create our client’s dream hair.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Some podcasts we listen to are; The Hair Game, The Curls and Convos Podcast, Destroy the Hairdresser and the Independent Stylist Podcast. We work closely with a business and mindset coach, Tammy Feltner. She’s the best in the biz and works strictly with women in the beauty industry. She has an extensive resume from the beauty industry and has plenty of experience and training with energy work. Tammy gives us all the hard love and business talk while teaching us how to control our energy to stay sane.
