Meet Jess Holmes of Wildish Digital in East Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Holmes.

Jess, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After quitting a local digital marketing agency due to HR refusing to allow me to go on maternity leave, I decided I was tired of being underpaid and under-appreciated. Though digital marketing is male-dominated, I decided to quit and started working as a freelancer from home. It didn’t take long for me to realize my skills were valuable and businesses were willing to pay me for my expertise. After taking on my first client, I opened my very own digital marketing agency, Wildish Digital.

Two years into my business now, I am currently in progress of launching a second business to teach other women how they can work from home and build a digital empire while raising kids and tackling a million other things at once.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all! I had to learn all about how to create a business. I had no idea how to form an LLC, why you need bookkeeping, different tax brackets I could file under, etc. It was a learning curve that I wasn’t prepared for!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Wildish Digital is a digital marketing agency specializing in search engine optimization(SEO) in Gilbert, AZ. Though SEO comes in all shapes in sizes, off-page SEO is our bread and butter. I love seeing my clients go from non-existent to the first page of Google in a matter of months. Ranking for their desired keywords helps put them in front of their target audience to land more sales.

Wildish Digital is different from many other digital marketing agencies in the area as many agencies don’t incorporate social media into their strategy. As an influencer myself, I know that social media is so important for businesses but is typically swept under the rug. I bring awareness to the forefront and encourage my clients to take advantage of this missed opportunity.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up you could find me enthusiastically head first in a book. I had a love for learning and would engross myself in historical periods such as Cleopatra’s life or the Titanic. I’ve also always had a love for the arts so naturally, I joined the chorus in 3rd grade, acted in local plays, auditioned and joined the honors choir in high school, as well as joined the marching band.

After attending college for a few years my wanderlust took flight and I moved from North Carolina to Hawaii where I lived for 4 years before moving to Arizona. I will always be a “beach baby” but the desert has its beauty which has grown on me over the years.
