Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Venom.
Hi Jay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
The way I started was so random. I never really had an interest in what I do now.
But prior to covid I became really interested in a show called face-off which is all about makeup and transformation I did a Halloween skull look and that kind of took off on Instagram. I found that it really was a thing and passion that I grew to love that helped me really bring out my creative side of me and create fun looks that people really enjoy. I haven’t looked back since!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a not-so-easy road but also not a hard one, the beauty community online is very saturated and there are people who have already been established online and have a huge following, I figured out that you could have a million followers but engagement is what pays the bills. Once I realized that with the following that I have I was able to still be successful like those with millions of followers I began to enjoy what I do and was less worried about the rest.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known to do fun, creative looks online! I like to use special effect makeup and prosthetics to transform into different characters and creatures. With Halloween coming up I’m already gearing up to start creating some fun looks for my Instagram! I’m definitely proud that I was able to start a new hobby and perfect that. I’m not a professional however I did teach myself with tutorials and continue to perfect my craft which is so satisfying!
Thanks to my travels and the makeup I do it has generated a loyal following for me and has landed me some pretty awesome brand deals with brands I never even think I could work with.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory, wow there are so many. But my fondest ones have definitely had to be the ones with my grandparents who are no longer with us. They would visit every year for the holidays and I remember the pure joy I always had with them as a child.
