Meet Jack King of Arizona Home Floors and DustRam® in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack King.

Jack, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in the flooring industry over 40 years ago. From 1984-2015, I was a full-service flooring contractor offering complete flooring removal and installation of all types of flooring materials. I had the opportunity to work for the best flooring companies in the Phoenix area. When the market crashed in 2008, I decided to focus my efforts on developing what is now the DustRam® System of completely dust free flooring removal equipment. Arizona Home Floors is now a service-based company offering discriminating homeowners premium dust free tile and flooring removal. We have a dedicated crew of trained employees who remove residential flooring completely dust free.
I have created a sister company to Arizona Home Floors called DustRam LLC. The DustRam® System of equipment currently has (5) five patented pieces of equipment with (5) five patents that are pending. We sell the DustRam® System to experienced flooring contractors around the US.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Flooring removal was always a nasty mess required to install new flooring. I had used every tool available including water trying to minimize the dust associated with tile removal projects. In 2008, when the economy went through a tough time, I decided to focus on developing an equipment system that would work better than anything available on the market. The DustRam® Chipping Hammer attachment was the first tool project I developed, tested, and patented. The DustRam® Chipping Hammer attachment currently has (2) two patents and is part of a larger system of equipment designed to remove all types of flooring dust free. A complete 1-man system has well over 100 components.

Product development has its challenges. We have found a way to make the best use of our time and resources by using a 3D printer. 3D printing allows us to develop new tools and build prototypes quicker and for less money, so we can bring products to market sooner and make them available to our Arizona Home Floors crew and our contractors.

Please tell us about Arizona Home Floors and DustRam®.
I own two businesses that operate side by side. Arizona Home Floors is a serviced based dust free flooring removal business, and DustRam is an equipment manufacturing company. Arizona Home Floors uses the DustRam® System daily for the removal of all types of flooring completely dust free. I spend my time working with an exceptional engineer and a technician to develop, test and grow the DustRam® System of equipment. I have a stellar office team selling and scheduling flooring removal projects in the greater Phoenix area. They also sell the DustRam® equipment to experienced contractors outside the state of Arizona.

Arizona Home Floors is very well known for entirely dust-free tile removal in the Phoenix valley. We have informative videos along with our outstanding customer reviews so potential homeowners can become educated on dust free tile removal. Many homeowners do not know dust free tile removal is possible. We have multiple search engine optimized websites easily found when searching for tile removal and equipment.

We are proud that we offer entirely dust free tile removal using the DustRam® System. We offer homeowners a truly dust free removal experience without using plastic, and we leave homes cleaner than when we arrive.

Our competition offers “virtually” dust free tile removal. Virtually dust free removal means they do not capture all the dust created. Our equipment catches dust the moment it is created.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have always been an inventor. When I was 12 years old, I waited until my parents had left for the day and I built a solar water heating system for the house. My father had a workshop in the garage with all kinds of plastic and metal tubing. He had empty propane tanks with various types of plumbing fittings. I built a system that connected to a spigot, ran to the roof and into holding tanks for the heated water. I was so excited that I invented and completed this system in one day. Unfortunately, my parents made me remove my invention from the house before I had a chance to test it. To this day, my mom regrets not letting me test my solar water heating invention. Through all these years, I never lost the urge to invent and to dream up new equipment.
