Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabelle Guarino.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve had many amazing career opportunities in my life. Working for Walt Disney company and American Airlines in the past. When Gene Guarino, my father, asked me to join his new business I was delighted. He first brought me on as Executive Assistant for RALAcademy. RALAcademy is a real estate seminar company. We teach real estate investors and medical professionals how to turn single family homes into assisted living homes for the elderly. Gene’s passion started when his mother, my grandmother, was falling ill. She was in desperate need of assisted living and we couldn’t find anywhere that was suitable for her. He bought his first assisted living home in Phoenix that year but she passed before he could move her into the home. His fire for this industry was lit from there forward! Gene now owns 3 assisted living homes in the Valley and owns the RALAcademy where he’s inspired thousands to create their own legacy and invest in this booming industry.
When I came to the team he was running everything on his own and was in desperate need of help. I first started by creating all systems to help run the operations smoother. He quickly went from classes of 20 students to classes of over 100 students. We created the Inner Circle for our highest level students and started doing Inner Circle Mastermind events twice yearly. We also doubled the amount of classes we offer throughout the year. Our marketing efforts grew immensely and we started creating an online following. Our training is very popular amongst REIAs (Real Estate Investment Associations) throughout the U.S. and we are well known in the Assisted Living industry. Our company has started the new trend by creating beautiful, high class homes in residential neighborhoods where nothing like this existed before. It’s an amazing alternative to the “big box” which turns away many elderly residents by reputation. Our homes have a personal, smaller, home-like feel.
I became the COO of RALAcademy in the beginning of 2017, our team grew from two to eighteen and our profits skyrocketed. I have loved working with my family, my father in particular, he’s an amazing inspiration and boss.
I am turning 27 this December and to have worked for two Forbes 500 companies and now be the COO of an amazing trending company, I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for our growing company.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest struggles in this company has been creating the systems from scratch. When I first joined RALAcademy, Gene had been doing everything on his own, he is a visionary and has amazing ideas but he’s not great at implementing things and leading the team. I came in and created all our marketing strategies, hired missing staff members, started adding events to our calendar and working on building a larger following in the real estate world. I not only organized our office, but organized our company and life! Now things are running smoother than ever. Everyone is working as one cohesive team, implementing core values and pushing forward together.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
RALAcademy is a real estate education company. We teach people how to turn single family homes into residential assisted living homes for the elderly. We show them how to create their business plans, policies and procedures, we show them how to secure financing and working with the zoning department in their state. We teach them how to secure licensing, hire their staff and create systems in their homes. We teach them how to market and fill their homes. We take them on tours of our properties in Arizona and show them how they will want their homes to look.
I am the COO Chief Operating Officer for the company. I run all the meetings, direct the leadership team where to go and how to operate their departments. I specialize in leadership development and company procedures. I am known for being the “go-to person” in our company. Every event we host I get multiple job offers and people are always trying to “steal me away”. I am most proud of our company for growing so quickly and inspiring so many people to build their legacy, help the elderly in their community and create significant cash flow for themselves and their families.
What sets me apart is my drive, my leadership style and my passion for the industry. I absolutely love working with my family and it’s been an amazing journey.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a cheerleader and participated in school sports. I was president of student council and very active in school and after-school activities. I got my first job at age 15 and have worked almost every day of my life since. I went to ASU for Family & Human Development and double majored in Communication with minors in Religious Studies and Spanish. I took an internship at Walt Disney World in Orlando in merchandising. I was secretary of Chi Omega and held a chair position for my 3 active years. I moved to Miami, FL to teach English to under privilege students right after college, and quickly realized I wanted to be free of a traditional job. So I quit and became a flight attendant for American Airlines and then quit that to become Executive Assistant for Gene Guarino at RALAcademy.
My personality has always been vivacious and over the top. I work hard at everything I do. I love being around people and planning events for social or business. I got really good grades in school and loved helping others around me succeed as well.
