Meet HairDoc TK

Today we’d like to introduce you to HairDoc TK.

HairDoc TK, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
HI , I’m TK “aka Tammy Kelichner “  HairDoc TK” It’s taken over 30 years (three long decades) to learn and research the issues with hair loss. I’m not a doctor, but with my story, I learned enough to save my own life, and at this point, I consider myself an expert in my trade and a HairDoc.

Growing up in rural Pennsylvania in Amish country with parents who were extremely conservative Christian and my mom swears by roots, fruits, nuts, and the Bible. The whole time, I dreamed of being a superstar and moving to Hollywood so I could take care of my parents and help people. But a young woman was expected to get married and have kids, work in a local factory, or have a professional certificate. I chose to get licensed and certified which started my journey out of rural America to Hollywood.

I am now a retired Hollywood Stunt and Theatre Trained Actress, that specializes in Holistic Hair Extensions and Restoration, Holistic Color Correction Services and Advanced hair extension training with over 35 years of experience and commitment to the community and my industries. I am also a Renal Cell Carcinoma Advocate and I cater to cancer clients in my Private by appt only wellness salon.

My advanced training techniques utilize a technology that regrows hair along with products that are holistic, safe, and effective, and I have become a mentor in my community so I created a salon directory to continue to mentor license professionals who want to learn my techniques and help Individuals with hair loss issues.

My private wellness salon is called New Dimension Extensions, and my directory of salons who practice my techniques can be found at Extension Hair Salons.  Lastly, if anyone is interested in my private brand salon, is HairDoc TK where I train and mentor individuals interested in practicing holistic hair techniques the right way.

But along the way to I was detoured, beginning with being misdiagnosed in my early 20s with Lupus and prescribed Prednisone. The treatment for this diagnosis was very hard on my body and the amounts of “medication” destroyed my hair and health… This major impact affected my “exterior psyche” with massive brain fog but It also pushed me to start support groups and become my own super life advocate.

I started to campaign and facilitate non-stop  For the Look Good Feel Better Foundation , Trichotillomania Foundation , and the Arizona Kidney Foundation.  After ongoing involvement in my communities, I still wasn’t getting the answers I was looking for and I lost my kidney and all my hair and wanted to know why ? I started wondering, “How could I turn the word “victim” into a “hero and be an advocate to others?”

With so much hair loss on the rise, and with all of the knowledge I had acquired  After a near death experience, I wanted to make a difference, and I wanted to be the difference.  In AZ, a personal difference I’m dedicated to making this a change to a specific law in my profession.

I made it my mission to educate others about the causes of chronic illness and giving them choices in holistic approaches. I also felt that the regulations for hair restoration were inadequate, and there needed to be licensing in place for hair extensions practices. My petition, “Maintain the Integrity of Licensed Salons!”  to change the law more information can be found at

From the start of my career at 18, I have understood that millions of people have unnatural hair loss due to autoimmune disease, nutritional deficiencies, and environmental toxins. I have become a holistic hair expert  , health and wellness consultant and  started to provide both reputable training, certifications, and listings and now a 5013c Charity called, “ Superhairoes!” which offers hair health hope and education  to thousands of women men and children  a strand at a time. I donate my hair products and my time to repair and regenerate hair.  Looking forward to helping even more women with hope with hair loss.

Our Mission is to support women and children in  a devastating time where their only hope is to feel beautiful on the outside while being destroyed to become well on the inside. Offering hope by getting them to look at potential root issues is what I do .

My education efforts resulted in securing a local TED Talk in 2018, and a book soon to follow, in which I share  my inspirational life story and the reason for my relentless advocacy efforts across hair loss communities and in my own industries   I ask people what’s is your Superpower? I want you to take a moment and think about your story. To think about the causes of and what your outcomes are in your life’s journey.

I decided to make something great in the face of tragedy. Extending Hair is not my only superpower. Extending quality of life and advocating for myself and others is my cause. I am able to offer hair, health, and hope as a hair loss sufferer, kidney cancer survivor, and breast implant illness advocate.

What would YOU DO if you were only given a year to live?

What “assumptions” or “judgments” will YOU change after hearing my story?

What is your superpower and who is YOUR “Hero?”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely NOT .  I had cancer, lost organs … then my business was hacked then my 10 year marriage ended… Then I had breast implant illness which is in my ted talk and my news story reported on ABC 15, “Did Breast Implants Make Valley Women Sick?”  here  But I kept going and I had to find a way… that’s when I did my Ted talk… I had NOTHING. I was homeless with no car, no business,No insurance and no way out…

My entire 35 years have been dedicated to changing our community and the planet I lived on.  I even went against the deregulation that was started to SAVE the licenses professionals’ livelihood.

I’ve overcome more challenges than most and that’s why I’m looking to build a team of HairDoc TK superhairoes. I can’t fight this battle alone…

I also was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society  prior to starting my own charity and prior to my own diagnosis I’ve been CONSISTENT for 35 years with my brand… this is another interview I had for the look good feel good program.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I have a ted talk on cancer implants and hair loss no one else has that. And I now have my own foundation to continue to help more cancer survivors and more stylists to get involved. My brand is very unique and it’s based all around my “story and ted talk.” I’m here to continue to educate the masses and empower my community to save more people from ongoing chronic illness and hair loss. I also have a support group called, “Breast Implants Isssues | Transformations To Wellness with HairDocTk on Facebook at

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans are to CHANGE the HAIR extensions world one strand at a time… with the new 5013c Superhairoes  Foundation and my two community directories plus the ted talk and a book about to launch I Will Make a Difference for All My Communities, HOLISTICALLY…

Many salon owners that I know want to continue the fight toward licensing and creating a safe environment for women and their hair goals.  I want to continue to build my private hair extension and hair restoration school that will cater solely to issues with autoimmune diseases, cancer trichotillomania, and chronic illnesses.  This is why I want everyone to be LICENSED as I have been for over three decades…
