Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Crockett.
Grace is a renowned Author, wife, mother, speaker, and advocate of domestic violence in the country. She became an overcomer after experiencing violence in her life through several marriages once she was fed up she stood up and had to face it head-on. Being a repeated victim took its toll and through her book; Overcomer: How I Survived Domestic Violence, Grace tells her story of her challenges and shares insight into her healing.
Now, she travels the country speaking at conventions, schools, churches, and expos and has been on radio, and television bringing awareness to everyone who will listen. She is the founder of Agnes’ Centers for Domestic Solutions in Phoenix, AZ where she provides services, training, and coaching to both victims and abuser to help them overcome. Education is key and Grace finds herself instructing her clients and outside professionals how to recognize a victim, how to respond to them, and how to properly refer them for help. She has developed a professional training program titled F.A.C.E I.T. (Family Awareness Crisis Education Intervention Training) which focus on families being made aware of the signs of domestic violence.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The challenges we face are financial, participation, and sponsorships. The struggle is finding a Philanthropist who supports our vision and mission, getting victims to participate in the programs we offer, and the support from the community in sending referrals.
Please tell us about Agnes’ Centers For Domestic Solutions.
Agnes’ Centers was founded by Grace Crockett and co-founded by Mercedes Booker. This mother and daughter team has a passion for helping others overcome domestic violence as they share their own testimony of overcoming. Agnes’ Centers was incorporated on December 4, 2012, the vision of the center is “Building Overcomers one testimony at a time while ending the cycle of domestic violence.” Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even when faced with death.” Our mission is to aid and assist individuals affected by domestic violence.
The centers currently have programs and services that focus on empowering victims and educating perpetrators that are ready to end the cycle of abuse in their lives. Our trained, educated, and professional staff will address each individual’s need as they progress through the programs. Agnes’ Centers goal is to help individuals transition from victim or perpetrator to an Overcomer. Most of our clients are participating in our behavioral health program which has a focus on family reunification after being separated because of the abuse in the home.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Obtained financial sponsorship from a major corporation for sustainability before I opened the doors of the Center.
