Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Von Weimer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gabriel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After being in the corporate world for eight years, I decided to go back to the industry I loved. I built a coffee truck and worked nights and weekends while still working my 9-5. The business grew quickly and even my Director at my day job was requesting the truck for events. I found an available building in Ahwatukee and thought it would be the perfect location.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have been involved in a few new store openings and know to plan for the worst but I still had many challenges. I learned how quick a nest egg can disappear! I also learned to do many things myself from plumbing, electrical, laying tile, etc. Right, when I thought I had a grip on everything, the summer hit and sales dropped about 50% and to add to that I had to purchase a new AC unit.
Tell us more about the business.
The Buzzed Goat Coffee Shop is a local business located in the town of Ahwatukee. We make hand-craft coffees that are custom-tailored to each order. We specialize in cold brew based drinks and soon coffee cocktails. We are known for doing numerous truck events at multiple sites: including non-profits, schools, businesses, and other community events. A portion of the money that is made at these events goes towards different organizations of their choice.
We are an upscale, high energy coffee company that was created to bring a different and fresh vibe to Arizona. Within the first few months of opening, we were recognized as The Best of 2018 Ahwatukee Foothills News Best New Business. What sets us apart from other coffee shops is that we brew our own cold brew, the majority of our products are local including beers and spirits. We are partnering with The Armer Air Foundation to provide free drinks to first responders, this is sponsored by the local community and a great way to say thanks for their service.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I do not necessarily believe in luck, but The Buzzed Goat has been fortunate enough to become a staple in the Ahwatukee community.
