Meet Frank Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Kitchen.

Frank, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always enjoyed working with people and traveling. I’ve always had a passion for educating, energizing and empowering people to transform their dreams from vision to reality. I’m now living that dream as a Business Owner, Motivational Speaker and Author who get to travel around the world working with professionals and leaders who need assistance transforming their big dream into reality.

While attending college, I joined several student organizations including the college student government and the campus activities board. I was voted into leadership roles that allowed me to pursue my passion. My advisors believed so much in my abilities to work with my fellow students. They encourage me to pursue advisory roles with other colleges after I graduated.

I declined and pursued management and training positions in the retail industry. I received numerous awards but wasn’t fulfilled. My college advisors reached out to me when a student leadership position became available at my alma mater. I quickly jumped at the opportunity. I spent nine years working at Lakeland Community College in Ohio. I wore many hats, but my main objective was to work with students who wanted to transform their vision of earning a college degree into reality. While working at the college, I was invited to speak at campus and community events. This eventually led to opportunities to speak professionally. My students eventually challenged me with my own words. “You challenge us to live our dreams, what are you doing to live yours?”

This challenge led me to leave my stable college position to pursue the uncertain world of professional speaking and entrepreneurship. My journey hasn’t been an easy one. I have been blessed to speak professionally for numerous organizations all around the world over the last 14 years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been easy. I’ve spoken professionally for over 13 years, but have only been able to speak full-time for the last five years. I wasn’t fully committed to my dream. I talked about it, but I didn’t put in the necessary work. I worked several jobs while pursuing my dream. There were several moments I thought my dream was over. The financial crisis, poor financial decisions, loss of employment and poor business knowledge slowed down my journey. Ultimately it was my lack of focus that was my biggest obstacle.

My focus became clear when I fired from my last “job” on Father’s Day weekend when my wife was seven months pregnant with our second child. That was my wake up call. I had a family to provide for and I needed to stop talking, get focused, work hard and more importantly work smart

I’m invited to speak at Conferences, Conventions and Training Events all across the United States.

I’m known for creating the “Live F.R.E.S.H.” Methodology. It’s a 5 step recipe (plan) that teaches you how to commit your time, talents, team and treasures to live your dreams while helping others live their dreams. I love teaching people that you don’t have to be a motivational speaker, public figure or celebrity to inspire people. You inspire people by how you live. You have to be genuine and real.

When I’m not speaking, I practice what I preach on stage by volunteering with the non-profit Hustle PHX as a mentor for aspiring entrepreneurs. I also raise millions of dollars annually for nonprofits as one of the First African American Fundraising Auctioneers in the world. And most importantly, I work to be the best husband and father I can be for my wife Kelly and our children Elijah and Olivia.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
“If you’re afraid to share your dream, then you’re afraid to live it.” This is a quote I share on stage often. When you’re afraid to share the dream with others, you limit your ability to live it. You need people in your life who you trust that you can share your vision with. These are people who believe in you and will challenge you to experience the success you desire.

I define success as the ability to live “your” dream. The world tries to define success as something financial or monetary. If you have a monetary dream and you live it, then that is a success for you. You define your success. You must have a personal or professional dream that you are hungry for. You need to put together a plan to live your dream. You must execute that plan. Then you have to taste or experience your dream. Essentially, “The dreams we only talk about become a fantasy, the dreams we work to live become a reality.” Reality is success.
