Meet Foster D. Coburn III of Unleashed Productions in Cave Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Foster D. Coburn III.

Foster, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started originally to support a book I’d written on CorelDraw with our primary focus being seminars on CorelDraw. Soon afterward we originally created our own Web site and helped other companies build sites. Twelve more CorelDraw books followed before the market for CorelDraw training waned. During that time, we’d expanded our online presence to ten of our own Web sites with five of them being e-commerce sites. This led to a change of focus to building WordPress Web sites.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the early days, the challenge was in finding a way to effective market to CorelDraw users. This happened with mass mailings, magazine ads and articles and promotions within the books. Facing the reality that the CorelDraw market was no longer a profitable area was probably the most challenging as we needed to determine a new direction for the company. We’ve made the transition and again the challenge is finding clients who fully understand the value we deliver when building a Web site. While it may seem like it is easy, it involves gathering great content and graphics then putting it together in a way that works on all devices and gets results from visitors.

Unleashed Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are known for creating powerful WordPress Web sites. The goal of each site can be radically different and we determine that goal when working with clients. Some sites are built to directly sell products and services. There are others that simply provide information. The site that has brought us the most pride is one where the client said the goal was “to make the phone ring.” Within a month, they had to hire more employees to answer the phone.

One thing we never do is stop learning about tools and techniques that allow us to build better sites in less time. This efficiency allows us to deliver quality sites to clients within their budget while also meeting or exceeding their goals. As we have our own e-commerce sites, we’ve already learned many lessons that we can apply to clients’ sites so that the sites have the best chance to meet their goals.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
One obvious way to measure success is by our own revenue and profits and we do that. Yet we also consider our clients to be in some way part of our own business. When their sites deliver for them and they find success, that is also something we consider a win.
