Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Mendoza.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started working at a beauty counter at a department store working for companies like Bobbi Brown, Chanel, and MAC. After 10 years of retail, I was done! So done. I am grateful for the experience. My makeup skills were refined a ton and grew so much as an artist. I went on to start blogging and to expand my freelance career. I decided to put myself through school to obtain an Aesthetician’s license. All those pricey services I would get, I wanted to offer as well. You can find me beautifying bridal parties, working on set for commercials/film, lashing up beauties, etc.
I love to stay busy!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not. It’s a great deal of responsibility. Owning your own freelance business means you are your own accountant, marketing, receptionist, PR, prioritizing friendships/ relationships …just when you think you have figured it out and everything is moving along, a new lesson rears its face. That’s life though, right? I wouldn’t change a thing. Keep. It. Moving.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company offers beauty services for all. Makeup, eyelash extensions and Microblading. Although I am highly skilled in all styles of makeup, I specialize in beauty makeup. I love a clean skin with a natural glam!
I am most proud of the clientele I have built and my friendships I’ve developed that started off as clients.
I would say, my work ethic definitely sets me apart from others. I definitely like to shot the shit and have a good time, but I take my job very seriously.
I am very grateful that I get to do something I love and I don’t take that for granted.
What were you like growing up?
A sassy, loyal, smart-ass little girl with a big heart who gets what she wants when she goes after it. Not much has changed…
